Stale seedbeds are awesome to plant! They're more consistent than a freshly worked seed bed.

@@iowANFarmer Going to Precision Planting meetings in the past, the presenter agreed that stale seedbeds were often the nicest to plant. Having been rained on, and settled down, they generally have consistent moisture and are easy to set the planter for depth, down pressure, etc...

Had good luck seeding oats by taking them into the co-op and have them added to the fertilizer and put on with an air machine and then working in with a field cultivator

We have had that done too! I think there is still some advantage to drilling them if you have the time! What do you see for an oat yield?

@@iowANFarmer It's been 30+ yrs since I seeded oats but usually 80-95 bu, plus the straw and I alway seeded alphafa with the oats and usually got 1 round bale per acre, needed the straw and place to haul manure more than the oats :)

Should plant the alfalfa and Timothy now and use oats as the cover crop works great here in Ohio put Timothy in with the oats and alfalfa in the grass box
@brettsibert79485 ай бұрын
Was wondering why not seed the alfalfa with the oats? I see it had a small seed box. In my experience we have seeded them together at the same time and it has worked great. Just have to swath the oats and use what i call a dummy head that has belts that pick up the swaths and feed them into the combine
