Hi Mayank, the whole dilemma is going on fall vs spring and your video gives relief and cleared all the doubts and myths about the lesser opportunities for spring intake. Thank you so much. Are the same 3 H1B chances we get if we come into spring like fall intake? or are we at risk to lose a chance of H1B as we do not get enough time to convinced our employer to file H1B? As we ideally completed MS in dec and H1B filed in April. Your response will be highly appreciated.
@FellowBrownie4 жыл бұрын
Glad you found it helpful! Yes, you'll still get 3 chances if you graduate in December. Employers who sponsor H1B starts the process as soon as you accept the offer irrespective of if you have joined the company yet or not, so in a lot of cases, they start the process in Dec while you join them in Jan or later. Also, keep in mind that you can manipulate when you want to graduate by taking lesser courses or doing an extra internship if your university allows full 1 year of OPT, so if you don't feel confident about finding a full-time then you can delay your graduation to end of spring by taking another course. Hope it helps :)

I think lot of people are confused whether they should come to the US or not if you are Indian or Chinese. Do you want the one line answer? Ok, I will give you the answer first: DON'T COME TO THE US! Now let's move to the explanations. Let me tell you what happens with most people who come to the US. They come to study and then they want to stay. This happens with most. If you think I am wrong ask the Indian or Chinese people who currently come to study here. So you will come to study here and then want to stay here. To do this you will have to be on H1B visa. And to have H1B visa after 6 year limit you will need an I140(a Greencard application). Living on an H1B is hard since you depend on the employer to keep your status. Now you have to do this until you get a Greencard. For Indians the wait is 195 years(LET THAT SINK IN) and about 18 years for Chinese. It is EXTREMELY stressful to be on H1B while you wait for the Greencard. Your health will suffer immensely. Don't understand why some people still keep telling Indians and Chinese to come, study and work in the US. Once you marry and have kids while on H1B it becomes harder to leave the US. There is no hope for Indians and Chinese in US. So don't waste your time and money coming here. Many Presidents have come and gone and promised changes but no changes have come in the last 20 years but no one cares for the plight of Indians and Chinese. Trust me don't push yourself and your family into a Black hole that people of Indian and Chinese origin have pushed themselves for DECADES waiting for the Greencard!! People of other countries get the Greencard in less than a year. So I shall repeat again: NO NO NO! Don't come to the US. Don't waste your time and your and parents hard earned money. US will use and throw you. If you want to live, study and work abroad. Go to a country which has a good immigration policy like Canada, which grants Greencard in 5 years.

I am thinking of deferring my admit due to all this. Could you please quickly make a video and address on, should we really concerned about all these conditions as a student? Shall we defer our admits due to all these? What kind of challenges we might face due to all these situation?

Yes, you can totally finish your program earlier if you take full course load in summers. You can also request your dean to allow you to take one additional courses to finish even earlier. It's all about planning in advance and you can decide when you graduate. Hope it helps!

Hey! A general rule is that the deadlines are around a year before the start date, it varies by a month or so by university/ programs but if you target this while preparing then you should be good with most of them.

Hey ,does neu specifically offer fall co ops ? . what are the chances of getting one in fall since I'll be coming in spring
@FellowBrownie4 жыл бұрын
The co-op policy changes by the department but generally, NEU doesn't allow a fall and spring co-op i.e. an 8-month long co-op can not be in two consecutive major semesters. It can be Full-summer and Fall or Spring and Full-summer combo. You can do a 4-month long co-op in Fall if you come in Spring. Although keep in mind that, most of the departments at NEU allow only one co-op and it can be of any length of up to 8 months so you would want to go for the maximum length and that's why it might be worth waiting until next Spring to start the co-op. Hope it helps :)

Wonderful video. I had a question though - with so many universities saying that they are going to start the Fall semester on campus is it safe health-wise to travel internationally to attend the semester on campus?
@FellowBrownie4 жыл бұрын
Hey! It may not be completely safe and I believe it won't be entirely for a while from now so you'll have to take the risk at some point and travel. Universities are taking steps to avoid high density in classes and also giving an option to take classes online. I would suggest following this hybrid approach, once you're in the US. For e.g. you can choose to attend one class on campus and the other online minimizing the exposure.
@abhishekparadkar78264 жыл бұрын
Fellow Brownie thanks for the reply! I am planning to begin studies by taking Fall semester online and then traveling to the US in Jan 21. Do you think this is a viable option? What are some things that I should keep in mind with this option?

I have a question.Is it possible to pay tuition fees of a year through part-time work(20hrs)?
@FellowBrownie4 жыл бұрын
Hey! Income from part-time 20hrs/week work is only good enough to take care of your living expense and may not pay tuition at all. The average on-campus job will pay you around $10/hr after taxes which sums up to $800 per month and if you live in a city like Boston, Brooklyn, Jersey City, Newark, etc., that would be only sufficient to cover your food, rent, etc. in case you live on a sharing basis. Hope it helps!

So if i join in spring 21 and as not eligible to do intership in summer 21 I will get to do intership directly in summer 22 and then after complete my remaining 1 sem of graduation i.e. fall 22? Whereas if we join in fall, will we get 2 summers for internships?
@FellowBrownie4 жыл бұрын
If you join in Spring 21, you can go on an internship or coop in Spring 22, you don't have to wait for summer 22 as ideally you would've done two major semesters which are good enough to cover minimum credits required to go on an internship/co-op.
@rearview80263 жыл бұрын
You must complete 9 months of study if you're fall intake in order to be eligible for internship as per USCIS.
