A man at home by the river, aside from the superb fishing there were some superb stills of nature at its finest and the cupla focal 👍. There must have been a maze of editing creating that video so fair play George. Also, to be fair, the conditions have been really difficult so far this season so to catch those fish on the dry is really impressive. The difference in the shop bought flies and your own patterns is simply night and day. I don't know of any other KZbin channel that is so honest or dedicated. No one catches them all and nobody catches every time so fair play. Local knowledge cannot be beat and your flies are always superb. Massive effort and I enjoyed every minute. 👏 maith an fearr 👍🎣🎣👍

Great episode, I been Flyfishing for the past 20 years and this year was the first time I started Dryfly fishing and it opened a new world and wish I tried years ago, I do advice everyone to give it a try, I was always afraid I wasn't doing it well and won't catch fish until I tried it this year and I'm hooked to it now, so much fun on the 3wt. Tight lines

Well done great tips there. Dry fly is the most enjoyable way to catch trout. You have good confidence in the sparkledun. It’s a great fly floats well

Good morning George, an exceptional video as always. If I may be allowed to make one observation? It would have been interesting to see the flies used after you had released your fish. I mention this only from a point of curiosity because obviously different anglers use their "own" patterns for the specific waters they fish. Lovely water, lovely scenery, you are blessed sir. Looking forward to your next installment. tight lines

Morning Peter,the flies on which I caught those trout are the same flies I spoke about at length in the section on flies in the video,they are all much of a muchness,simple generics.Appreciate your input as always,cheers buddy.

Great video George 👍🏻, There is no more satisfying or enjoyable way to catch a trout than with a dry fly unfortunately a lot of newcomers to the sport think that Euro nymphing is the be all & end all of fly fishing & become obsessed with numbers of fish caught I’ve seen it for myself, while nobody is doubting its effectiveness to me it gets boring after a while but each to their own I suppose. One thing I have to say is I love fishing dries with my double taper silk fly line just grease it up with Mucilin & it floats all day😉
@springerspanielful3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the positivity a chara, the silk lines must have improved since my day, tight lines.

Wow your totally right about the entomology of the streams and how they have changed here where I live over the last 2 decades high flood waters muddy sility water has decimated mayfly nymph populations ,the silt gets down in the rocks/riffles and the gills of the mayfly nymphs kills them

George - Why do you think on some days a lot of rises are missed and on others almost every one is a hookup? Is it our timing of the strike or is it the fish don't quite commit. I would appreciate your opinion on this. Great video as usual!
@springerspanielful3 жыл бұрын
Misses are inevitable due to numerous factors, if you're missing consistently on a given day it's most likely a confidence issue, you miss a couple and it seeds a doubt in your mind and then you start to second guess the timing and therefore misstime your strike.

Great video - I watched was hoping for some info on tippet preparation in terms of presentation - flouro / mono and how to get the leader to sink etc. Any tips on this to allow the perfect fly presentation or do you find none of this matters with light tippet and good floatant?
@springerspanielful3 жыл бұрын
This time of year ie April,the season is young and there's relatively high water and leader construction isn't as critical as later in the season,as the trout and the river are much more forgiving in most scenarios.It's something I will be covering in more detail in a future video,hope you'll tune in for that,thanks Stewart.

When no fish are rising, try a Klinkhamer with a nymph tied to the bend of the Klinkhamer {klink and dink}
