Love my Echelon. However if you are going to run it for duty use I recommend getting a single sided mag release. I’ve seen it where you can push hard enough on the outside of the holster you can activate the mag release unintentionally.

My holster is cut in such a way that there is no danger of that, but good tip for others that see this.

I just found your channel. Thank you for your review. Other than the Glock, I'm trying to find American Made pistols now. Almost impossible! Other than the 1911, I've stayed away from Springfield. Honest Outlaw did a great "full" review of the Echelon and he couldn't get it to fail. Says a lot for this platform. Really love mine. 5000+ rounds through it. My only complaint...is that the slide gets so damn hot after about 150 rounds that I have to put it down for a while shooting my other guns. Other than that...perfect.

I haven't had a chance to run one of these yet but it seems to be very well designed. A lot of very smart ergo choices were made including the gas pedal in the frame. I like that feature. The optics mount is also very clever.

I like the XD-M Elite line, but the Echelon is on a whole nother level. I'm just waiting for them to start releasing grip modules and frame / barrel length variations.

I want Sig style options that let me change this thing down to a compact / carry size, or swap into a Wilson Combat grip, that kind of thing. If there are aftermarket companies making grips, I'd love to know who and where I can find them. 👍

I love this new gun. It fits my hand so well and people don't like the texture item. They think it's not aggressive enough. You just gotta squeeze a little harder. The tighter you squeeze the digger. It deeps the deeper, it digs sorry. But I sold my mechanic rival. Because this pistol I could name eight things that this one has that my Rival Does not have

it has 3 interchangable backstraps to help with grip angle and natural point of aim. I went to the largest and it's very close to 21 degrees or S&W M&P/1911, but one of the others is more similar to Glock.

Weird. Side by side it's beefier than Glock in every way. Tighter. Better trigger. Shoots better. I've never had mine FTF in 8k rounds. Ever. Fully cocked strikers just have better triggers. This. PDP. CANIK. All better triggers than Glock. And with a replacement, it's no comparison. Grip safety doesn't suck, and is assuring, with a 2 pound trigger anyways. And the perfect grip angle. Just more proof that the roar of the masses could be farts. I do admit Springfield's marketing is corny AF. Don't care. Not made at Springfield anyways.

@JP-yt3nk ive seen multiple xDs completely fail and fall apart during hard use cases. I've also seen the grip safety get stuck and completely seize the gun up. If a gun is good the gun is good, and generally they'll be seen as such. XDs aren't considered to be good guns and for good reason.

I concur with your assessment on all accounts. I held off initially, but after I picked one up, I fell in love with it. On my first range outing with it, I found I could run a plate rack with it as fast, or faster, than I could with my Glock 17, a gun that I carried on duty for the last 10 years of my career.
