I'm so glad to see that Springfield didn't abandon the XD line. Nothing against the hellcat or echelon lines but the XD line was unique... I like the grip safety because I often carry appendix. I own a bunch of them and they have all been well built, accurate and reliable.

I have two of the OG XD9's now, one is totally customized with Springer Precision Parts, the other is stock with the Optics Ready Slide and this one. Love them!!

Ended up picking one up this weekend thanks to your review. Best gun I’ve ever owned, shot. I was blown away by how accurate I am with it; how great it shoots, the trigger is a winner. I’ve shot and owned Walthers, smith and wessons, Rugers, Glocks, shadow systems, staccatos. I’d take this over them all. Unbelievable gun at an unbelievable price. Get one you won’t regret it.

Ive already got an XD9, bought the OSP slide, but i still want one of these. I really hope it takes off, because the XD line is highly impressive. And i avoided the line in the past! Stupid me!

No, you're not stupid, even though I shot the HS2000, I never purchased one, I liked it, when Springfield started selling them under the XD line, I didn't get one until the 5" Tactical came out and I got one done by Springer Precision. I also used the Sim Line, I shot the 5.25 for a few years in IDPA. I really like this version. I do have the OG one with Springer Upgrades, the OG one with the OSP Slide and this one, love them all!!

I guess I'm weird but I really like the XD line of pistols. I've always shot them well and found them to be very reliable. I'll be getting the Mod 3 soon.

You're not weird, you're not alone, I first tried one of these in 2003 or so when it was called the HS 2000. I like it even more now with all the support from Springer Precision.

People say that the xd line is budget but I don't know about that. I've never owned anything made by Springfield but that may change soon if I keep watching positive reviews on this one. I usually don't by "budget" type guns but I might make an exception.

OK, the XD was NEVER considered to be a "Budget" Firearm, not when it was imputed as the HS2000 or when Springfield first sold them as the XD9. Back in 2019, Springfield sold the first Gen XD9 for $340, then COVID hit and prices went up. They are back with the Gen 3, Optics ready and they are selling for a song on some of the Online Retailers. This is DEFINITELY NOT a Budget gun, Springfield is just selling them at a Budget price to help people dealing with a crappy economy get to the range and defend themselves.

@yrsued yet I hear these reviewers say "it's a well priced budget option" or "this fits in the budget category". I don't consider any firearm budget because everyone's budget is different. Some very wealthy people might consider a nighthawk a less expensive brand when all they have are high tier custom guns, 1of 5 type of guns.

Even though they are both made by HS IN Croatia and distributed by Springfield, there are two totally different pistols. Two different price points and two different markets. This pistol is geared towards the beginner on a budget clientele, while the Echelon being a higher price point it's geared towards someone with a bit more experience and deeper pockets. Two different budgets. I have both, I like both. I need to take this one to the range and put it through its paces though, eventually kit it up with Springer parts and see how it shoots.

Improvement creates obsolescence, facts of life They still back up the XD, they just stopped making it this year. YES, it DOES take XD Mags and if I remember correctly, most XD parts fit too., just an optimized version of the classic XD

ANY holster that fits the XD-9/40, XD9 Mod2 WILL fit the XD-9 Mod 3. I have several kydex holsters here and they all fit it no problem.

Nothing wrong with Irons, but Old Folk like me benefit with Optics. That is why Springfield sold an Optics Ready Slide for the OG XD. I converted my XD to Optics with this slide.

It is a little smaller and a whole lot lighter, even with the full 16 Rounds of 9mm on the mag and one in the chamber. I would say YES!!

Glad to see them put the bump on the grip safety. In several classes over the last few during the CCW Quals, several didn't get it sufficiently depressed to cause it to fire. Except for 1911s, I'm not a fan of the grip safety.

I never had a problem with it, the grip fit me fine. But I do agree with you, the bump is a welcome update.

@yrsued First range day was today. Nice trigger, accuracy not bad. I tried it against my Canik Rival. Canik won 🏆, I think this gun is an excellent carry gun. The grip is different, and the weight and feel is equal to the S&W MP 9 EZ Shield but much better.

If i remember correctly. The mod 3 will take the same mags as the standard xdm/elite mags. So the only 1 mag per gun.is really not a issue since i have both the competition xdm and the elite. i have plenty of mags already on hand.
