Removing the magazine disconnect is a simple job. That being said, I've never minded it, the Hi Power was designed as a military weapon and neither Dieudonné Saive or John Browning ever expected it to become a cult favourite of American Sport and most of all, defensive shooters.

first thing i did to my old FEG clone was remove the mag safety, it also makes the trigger a lot smoother.

It cost me $100 for my gunsmith to remove the magazine disconnect and get rid of the minor trigger spurs, those made the trigger a lot better

Girsan all day long. Better build, more reliable.

Had an FN back in the 80s, without a doubt it was my favorite handgun. Today, I bought the Girsan MC P35. I will be enjoying it as well. Yes, it is a bit heavier than most of my EDC choices but if it shoots like I remember, it will be the new carry.

My 1st SA-35 was a boat anchor. Sent it back 3 times and never did eject. They replaced it with a newer model and and it works but I haven't put many rounds through it yet. I have the Girsan MC P35 and the smaller PI model and 0 failures with either of them. I have the standard and the tanker model 45's and no problems with them either. The Turks are making very high quality pistols. Also loved my Turkish pump shotguns.

I have the Girsan as well. No failures and no malfunctions.

Magazine safety is safer…..not sure why it is an issue.

Just have the magazine disconnect removed. Your problem solved.

How could it be better than the 1911 when it's chambred in nine millimeter...

These days with bullet technology, there isn't that much a difference between 9mm and .45 anymore.

I want a Springfield or a Girsan but since WA came out with the illegal mag ban, both companies have still not made a 10rd mag supplied version here in this state. Years ago I had an FEG 9HP clone that jammed a lot but having had that HP, the gun fit so well in the hand. I want another high-power very bad, but the options in this state with the crooked Inslee in power are limited. these companies really need to offer them supplied with a 10rd mag. I guess there is the CZ75 (which is an excellent and legendary handgun on its own and very much related to the HP) available until we can get them here. I guess I could try haggling a dealer to order/ sell me one without the 13rd mag which would be perfectly legal.

lol poor washingtonian, I managed to get one here in NJ and I've got both versions of the mags, pinned and unpinned for when I'm out of state nobody really cares about those kinds of laws here, not even the people that work at the gun shops. They'll obviously follow the law in the store but most guys I know will tell anyone the restrictions are god awful and stupid, and usually have something they shouldn't somewhere due to grandfathering, etc.
@witchywoman1652 ай бұрын
@@redline1916 I have 10's of dozens of mags over 10rds, they are legal, you just cannot buy them over 10rds as of last year. Many people say F it and get them out of state. LOL

My first handgun was a hi-power evolution(derived from the hi-power) made in Bulgaria called the Arcus 98DAC. Not as comfy in the hand as the OG, and DA/SA, but I still love that gun as my first pistol. I moved on to the CZ-85b(full ambi CZ-75), but I still feel the Hi-Power would be a lovely single action experience.

Magazine safeties are a feature that is useful for police issue guns, and not useful in a combat gun, or a personal firearm. There are companies that make replacement drop-in triggers that eliminate the magazine safety. These drop-in triggers will also lighten your trigger pull, one less spring to compress.
@minuteman32 ай бұрын
Thanks, I'll check it out.

The Girsan mcp35 PI LW OPS comes without the mag release safety fyi. The trigger pull is about 6 lbs though. Now my EDC.

I am a big fan of the Hi-Power. I have 2 of the Hungarian FEG models. First thing I did was watch a few youtube videos and take that stupid mag disconnect out. Browning only designed it that way because the French insisted on it, then past on the pistol. Shows how much the French know. My pistols have been great. Bought a bunch of the 13 round Mec-Gar mags. They are the best IMO. I really like the idea of the Springfield, and like the idea of getting the shorter barreled version of the Girsan. But with 2 great FEGs and 2 Compact CZ 75 compacts, it seems rather redundant. The Hi-Power is a great pistol. Great feel, pointability and accuracy.
@richardkrase6315Ай бұрын
I wish he had addressed whether the mags fall free for both. Mine don't on the Girsan, even after removing the mag disconnect.

You could've taken the magazine safety out when you switched the grips out

The metallurgy of the Spingfield SA35 Hi-Power ,is superior as it is fully forged steel, and has a cold forged barrel. Also, the 1911 style thumb safety is superior than the Girsan. Springfield Armory SA-35 Hi-Power is the best choice. Plus Mec-Gar makes 15 round magazines for any Hi-power, or Hi-Power clones.

Love my SA-35’s as I have two with consecutive serial numbers and they were bought after Springfield rectified their extractor issues with the early release models. I also have a Belgium made Hi Power and a more modern Hi Power I bought in 2016. I ❤️ them all!!! But I believe however that Springfield did it right and makes the BEST “Hi Power” ever and BETTER than the FN originals. Just my opinion when I compare my collection. One of my SA-35’S is my “toy project” gun. The other one I’m keeping 100% factory stock original and in the box as a safe queen. My “toy” version has had a complete internal upgrade package done from BHSpring Solutions, including the addition of their Type 1 safety sear lever swapped in from the OEM. That’s a definite must-have and a no-brainer. Then I road-tripped by driving that SA-35 to Las Vegas and had MK3 Gunsmithing do a number on it. Overall, I’ve put at least $1600 into the gun and man it’s a jewel!
