Springtime trains at Mt' Lofty Station.

Springtime in the Adelaide Hills is a lovely time of year , with crisp mornings and blue skies. The light is sharp and bright , and perfect for catching freights battle the 2.2% grades in both directions . A West bound SCT and Pacific National head towards Adelaide , while an Eastbound SCT " Superfreighter" heads towards Melbourne.

Really pretty spot. I must have bypassed it several times when travelling from WA to the east coast (& vice versa) for family weddings etc. usually against the clock, and aware we a must be missing gems such as this. @@FishplateFilms the layout I want to build one day (if I have the room) would be based on the Tennessee Pass from Canon City to Minturn with some licence to squeeze the good bits in...got most of DRGW locos for it and plenty of mixed rolling stock. Having a bit of a grade makes it more interesting

Hi Brad, There are two nice Pub's / Hotels, but they are expensive to stay at . I'm going back in a week and use Air Bnb , there are a few in the Hills. Lofty is about 30 min from the Airport. Gregg.

Hi Shaun, yes I've been to Lofty many times, and will be heading off again in 3 weeks (hopefully) to spend another week in the Hills! It is about 2500km from my home in Brisbane, and is 4 states away and a 4 day drive, but I fly now and hire a car! Thanks for watching. Gregg.
