It’s amazing how the AC4400 are very durable. My friend that works for Union Pacific said they are probably GE’s best locomotive. Wonderful video, love how the struggle up the grade. Cheers from hot and humid Nebraska. Terry.

Hi Gregg , great video once again how is progress going with the new digs? Looks like I bet you to it , we are also pulling up stumps and moving to the country. Nice big property and a large enough garage to swing a cat in , even got permission off the financial controller put an air conditioner too. I'm also going to leave the layout behind as its not cost effective to take it with me and will be changing to code 83 track as well . Hope you are well Shaun
@FishplateFilms14 сағат бұрын
Thanks Shaun! Progress is slow but hope to have some news before Christmas? Good on you for moving to the country, are you selling the layout? You won't regret switching to Code 83, it's sleeper size and spacing is to scale , like the rail itself, and you trains look much better on it! Good luck with the move! Cheers Gregg.
@shaunhuckstepp753113 сағат бұрын
@@FishplateFilms Hi Greg no l won't be selling the layout as it wasn't completed and you couldn't give it away its over 25 Years old. Yes everyone is saying that code 83 is a good choice and lve learnt a lot from this layout so it will be a fresh canvas . I for got to mention from the bedroom window we get a view of the farm land valley and the mountains right in front of us ,a good reason to get up every morning

Ooh, colour grading! I'm usually lazy when taking reference photos and just use my phone, but it sucks at dealing with colours, so I eventually decided to frag out my old Canon Ae-1 again and now shoot Fujichrome Provia 100f when I need colour reproduction. I also missed a couple of really good deals on Ebay for an old Devry 35mm Cine camera, so I'm on the hunt for one of those. Those are pretty good results though for digital, considering the effect of youtube compression and monitor colour reproduction (too often, lack thereof)!

YesI cut my teeth on film, back in the 80's , and still have my Nikon FE with motor drive, Metz Flash and Lead acid battery on a strap! , Shooting film really teaches you discipline and patience. I am surprised who good this looks at H264 and YT compression , as you say! The lens gets very good reviews and it's definitely worth the price, and for a zoom , gets excellent results. Thanks for watching! Cheers Gregg.

Brisbane seems like its a beautiful city. Thank you for sharing, Gregg. I was curious, but can rock and mud slides occur along any length of mountain overshadowing railroad tracks or do they only occur in specific places? I ask because if the former is true, then shouldn't the entire length of track adjacent to mountain cliffs be protected by shedding? Cheers, Joe.
@FishplateFilms3 күн бұрын
Thanks Joe! I often wonder that myself! We don't have the mountains down here to have rock sheds, but we do have a few with wire mesh holding rocks back. Gregg 🙂

Nice work. Only a prototype, so I'd say don't hang onto it for the new layout - it'll always be "not quite right" after you've made others, learning from this one. Just a thought: if you used balsa wood, you'd have the wood grain ready and present to represent the embossing of the shuttering into which the concrete was poured (assuming that's how they make them).

I think the shed looks good for a first draft. I think that you should sprucen it up with some plaster and paint, and keep it somewhere on the layout. Maybe you could theme the shed to be one of decades of service that is weathered and showing it's age. I was curious, but can rock and mud slides occur along any length of mountain overshadowing railroad tracks or do they only occur in specific places? I ask because if the former is true, then shouldn't the entire length of track adjacent to mountain cliffs be protected by shedding? Cheers, Joe.
