I appreciate your excellent report on fuel filter replacement. Had I watched it first I would have saved a lot of time by removing only the filter and leaving the bracket in place. Your advice to cycle the ignition switch for 2 -30 second intervals eliminated the risk of staving the HP pump of fuel on initial startup. Fired up on the first try after purging the new filter. All the Best! BTW: I own a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4 with the OM642 engine.

I have a 2011 Forrest River Solera on a Freightliner frame with the Mercedes 6 cylinder. To search for a fuel filter have to search on the Sprinter 3500. Amazon has many that Amazon says fits... but the reviews mostly all say they don't fit. That's my problem and Forrest River is no help. WHICH FILTER NAME AND NUMBER FITS?

Missing information, Year of Van, Model number of filter, size of engine, I have a 2014 and it specifies a specific number for filter and it come with eh sensor built in, also he filter is located in a different area and much more difficult to remove, just saying details matter when trying to explain, but thanks anyway some helped
@jennygoit6383 жыл бұрын
She said the year at the start of the video. You have a much more problematic 6 cylinder motor compared to the easy to work on 2003-2007 TN1 5 cylinder

I have a 2019 Tiffin Wayfarer with 7000 miles. An indicator on computer says service A is 63 days overdue. Is this critical as the service intervals in book shows 10000 miles for A service and 20000 for B?

The engine check light is on . Before I changed the fuel filter , I was losing powers and stalled on me many time , and then I drove for a while and put DEF, because it was low , and the engine light goes on again , but the vehicle drive normal. That's 2017 mercedes Sprinter. So what should I do ? Please let me know . Thanks!

Probably pull check engine codes, see what those say, and go from there.

Thanks , its time for mine to be changed to !
@jimwright32532 жыл бұрын
Seems like you should have checked for leaks as soon as you finished putting the new filter on, but before you put on the heat shield and air box. That way, you could see the fittings where a leak could occur. Waiting until you put all that stuff on and looking for leaks under the vehicle would miss most leaks which would likely be too slow to dribble all that way down.

It looks like the same filter used on the e320 cdi, I was a bit surprised given lower fuel economy would lead to more filter changes.

What were the symptoms you were experiencing that led you to replace the filter? I’m trying to decide if my sprinter is having the same issues.
@EXPLORISTlife3 жыл бұрын
No necessary symptoms... this should be a part of regular maintenance. The engine won't run/start if the fuel filter is too clogged. But its always a good place to start if your engine is running rough.

there's no issue with air getting in the lines?

No. Good question though. Filter is self-priming as she says, which eliminates the need for bleeding the system.

I think I shared a link before that talked about using motorcycle oil and removing the upper and lower heat shields to extend the life of blutec engines so they survive beyond the warranty period. The heat shields are essentially smog devices that increase engine temperature. The factory oil recommended is not better for keeping the motor lasting beyond warranty but is again for smog. Very short sided smog aids as it is more polluting to sell more and rebuild more.

Please pin this comment, always, always, always carry a spare fuel filter with you, I know this and due to the service history on my newly purchased 2016 I didn't, it almost bit me in the azz, an hour north of Bend OR I got he first signs and it took me every bit of luck with downhill and skill to make it to the Colombia gorge where I knew it would be 15° warmer to get out of that mess, you might not be so lucky! Cold diesel gets thicker and it will slow your filter earlier, not a good idea at 11pm a hundred miles from an auto parts store!

You're very "savvy" but my suggestion is do not install heat shield or air box until you run it 5 minutes. Just in case something leaks.

i see your point but you will end up with your engine management light on if you run your engine with the air box not plugged in

Where are you buying your filters? Both are from China and I doubt Mercedes would buy Chinese filters.
@EXPLORISTlife6 жыл бұрын
The filters we used are listed into the description. We haven't followed the supply chain, but if the Chinese can figure out how to make a handheld device that allows us to connect to the internet at 80 megs per second, I'm sure they are capable of making an air filter. But ultimately, use whatever filter you like. The process is the same.
@jakp87776 жыл бұрын
Adventure in a Backpack yeah I can tell for sure those aren’t Mann filters being used. I guess if they work for you that’s what matters. There’s a huge difference in making/ engineering something from scratch and just making a copy of something without knowing why design choices were made. I’ve done many factory engineering projects for daimler (the maker of your van) as well as ford, gm and Chrysler and don’t appreciate the patronizing comment.
