This sucks, doesn't it. I rebuilt my turbo and it just went. They must not of balanced the wheel right. So now I need to take it out. I think you skipped a few screaming parts that have to come off first

That rearmost turbo bolt had me using choice words for a bit. When I got the van from auction I found the air filter collapsed. It must have been digesting animals and road tar. I also hear that if the heater on the crankcase breather tube fails, it can feed the turbo tiny droplets of ice in the winter.

@@smsauce I'm stuck in TN now waiting on a turbo cartridge. I am dredding this. Did you have to take the alternator off? What did you have to take off to get the turbo out?

@@smsauce I did this with the engine out before, now that is not an option. Anything you can tell me that would be helpful would be great. I'm stuck waiting for the part in a lot in TN

@@frontlinemedia4270 I left the alterntor in place, and only removed the intake and crank breather tubes. I disconnected the coolant line along the head at one point as well. Definitely replace the oil feed line to the turbo, they coke up and get clogged so not worth the risk of re-using. I also remove and install it with the drain line attached. There ia a single bolt near where it goes into the block and two bolts into the bottom of the turbo. If you install with those two loose by a thread it will let you wiggle the drain line around and place it perfectly. Then once the turbo is bolted to the manifold and the brace is installed you can tighten the drain bolts for a perfect fit. It would also be a good time to replace the plastic outlet resonator thing with an aluminum pipe. That bolts to a bracket neat the alternator with two bolts. Otherwise I don't remember anything special. If you run into trouble I'll do my best to suggest things or pair the agony with a nice bourbon.

@@smsauce hey buddy. I'm still waiting on my cartridge. It's not even expected until Jan 10th. I rebuilt this whole engine myself using new and used parts. This original turbo worked perfectly but I got the wheel assembly balanced and my gut instinct is they messed up. My vehicle could never go up to speed from the start, 78 mph max, and I was trying to figure out why. It only has 800 miles on it and the turbo went. I don't have a new oil feed line here. But my engine looked spotless inside after pressure washing the block. It was pretty good from the start as I used synthetic oil and changed every 3k. The initial tear off of the turbo with the exhaust manifold was hrs, heat, ect. But I replaced all those bolts with stainless steel and used antiseize. I'm just in a lot now in the middle of nowhere
