There was also Automation that went open beta/early access around 10 years ago. Going slow, but if you like designing cars and getting into every detail, it's pretty good. What I notice all these have in common is that they're slow development, labor of love kind of games, with just one or a handful of devs.

honestly, that plane you made is more like a 1.7 its got a bad engine (sorry) but a pretty damn good turn rate, its got a really good armament too, 4 50. cals is REALLY potent. And your second version is probably a 2.3-2.7, its got a good engine, i'd say it retains less energy in a turn and might turn slower? and i think it has the same armament, so the first version is more of a low tier turn fighter while the second version is more of a low tier energy fighter? also they both look AMAZING

@@galacticdragon9841 not sure if thats the case in air RB, never really tested it but i think thats the case in air AB. What do you mean different compared to the ''european'' camouflage schemes. Russians are European so by definition anything they do is European too. Unless you want to claim that the bigger chunk of Russian territory is in Asia and therefor Russia is Asian. In that case during WW2 the bigger part of the French Empire was in Africa and the bigger part of the British Empire was in India, so by that logic France is African and Britain is Asian? The core population of Russia is European and lives in Europe the asian parts are colonised land.

For the era the Top speed of the first plane isn't that bad you are being overly harsh, you got over 300kph and it was still increasing when you started bleeding speed with maneuvers. You never gave it enough time to see its real top speed you need at least 10 mins straight and level flight to get an accurate figure. The plane you built looks very much like a P-36 Hawk (a plane from 1938) which had a cruise speed of 430kph and a top speed of 504kph. I'm 1 million percent certain that if you just got over your chronic impatience for a couple of mins and gave the plane enough time to actually accelerate to its top speed before playing with it that plane would be in the 450-500kph range which would be very competitive for the early to mid-1930s design. I think I saw a brief look at the engine power and it looked like it was in the 800hp range. The Italian G-50 was built in 1937 and was also a radial-engined fighter and had a maximum speed of 470kph while the Koolhoven F.K.58 did 483kph and the Fokker D.XXI did 460 kph and your design has up to double the firepower of any of these and for the mid-1930s is massively over armed the Italian designs of the period had 2 50.cal's the US designs at the time period had 1 50 cal and 1 30 cal while everyone else had 4 30 cal's until the late 30's. The closest contemporary fighter in terms of firepower to your first design is the Japanese KI-27 which had 1 50 and 2 30 cal guns.

If you want to do the "build a tech tree" thing, I'd like to suggest you get quite creative and come up with a set of fictional factions with their own "primary faction traits". Good, bad, aesthetic, practical - all of it. Even boring-sounding things like railway car width could add in some overarching and realistic restrictions. It could also be cool to come up with some basic lore for a world to help "justify" certain common traits. Like perhaps X faction is a small nation on the defensive with an extremely hilly landscape; so opts for smaller, lighter vehicles with great gun depression, and with a big emphasis on tank destroyers. It might be a great idea to use an AI like Chatgpt to help build that world up;and of course using your knowledge of real world history will be a huge help. I plan I doing something like this in Sprocket after the next big update...if I can be bothered XD

SimplePlanes has been out for what feels like decades, and you can build basically any vehicle, planes, seaplanes, boats, subs, cars, amphibious vehicles, tanks, mechs, with as much detail as you can muster, with great graphics you can somehow run on a phone. i reccomend Juno New Origins to most people, it doesn't have weapons and VR support, but the world is far more interesting to explore, and also other planets? better Jet engines, decent propellors now, and a campaign if you care (i don't really) seriously, if you like vehicles, you have to try Juno New Origins

Reading the amount of comments saying they wanted a game like Sprocket for planes since forever makes me wonder if anyone even remembers SimplePlanes or if it is really that niche (or if I just didn’t dig far enough for someone mentioning it)

The plane looks like a fw 190 crossed with an f4u corsair. And the second looks like a lagg-3 crossed with a yak 9 to me.

What was your War Thunder squadron again? It seems to have magically disappeared from my account and I can't remember the name.

How's about a He 111-inspired aircraft? I want to see how you handle the asymmetric cockpit, haha.
