SPRUCE KNOB/SENECA CREEK: exploring WV's backcountry

Hillbilly here! Thanks for tuning in for another awesome adventure in the mountains of beautiful West Virginia. On this hike we'll be hiking a loop in the Spruce Knob/Seneca Rocks National Recreational Area. The hike begins on WV tallest peak, Spruce knob, and ends with a stroll along scenic Seneca Creek. Me and a couple buddies was up Roaring Plains of Dolly Sods over the weekend the wind was crazy up there.. But we definitely got some great views on Hidden Passage and Canyon Rim trails.. Looks like ya had some good colors for your hike.. I definitely love Seneca

Here’s some information about the wreckage. My son and I looked into this shortly before visiting the site on a backpacking trip in 2018. Located approximately 1.0 mile down the Lumberjack Trail is the wreckage of a Piper PA-23 that crashed in 1973 with the loss of 2 souls. The wreck site is located 75 yards below the trail at N38.76409 W79.49852. If you decide to visit the site, please do not disturb any of the wreckage out of respect for the lives lost here. Hope that’s helpful, it's a beautiful area.
