@@SPUDS1 We'll they're not entirely sure of the Andromeda Galaxies central black holes mass. At 240 million solar masses it would be about Jupiter's orbit, and that's as massive as they estimate it to be, it's likely far lower. Andromeda isn't much more massive than the Milkyway and the central black holes tend to follow the overall mass of their host galaxy, so the original size estimate of 22 million solar masses from about 10 years ago is likely all it is. Regardless, its nowhere near as large as you've depicted, even at 240 million solar masses.

And in reality, such black holes do not have colors, not purple shores, not even yellow, as in photographs of black holes - these images are simply schematically painted with this color. That's not completely true. While stars hold their planetary systems (or solar systems) together, supermassive black holes and dark matter together hold galaxies together. If dark matter did not exist, galaxies could probably still exist (I don't know much about how they were formed, just how they exist today), but the outer stars would be very loosely held together, perhaps similar to the Oort Cloud and our Sun.

The truly terrifying part is that this is the largest black hole _known._ The universe is vast beyond human comprehension. There may be monsters out in the void somewhere that dwarf TON 618, hidden in the darkness where we’ll never be able to see them.

Sagittarius A*: (Center of the Milky Way) has approximately 107,000 times the gravity of the Sun. I took a few google searches, geez. For some reason my first result was the gravitational pull of Sagittarius A* compared to that of Earth. I also found a comparison of the mass of the Sun vs Sagittarius A* which would have needed more variables to convert to gravitation pull. So, I searched for the gravity of Earth vs the Sun and used that to find Sagittarius A* has ~107,000 times the gravity of our Sun.

Sag A* seems wrong somehow. For the mass it has, its event horizon is .08 au from the center and mercury meanwhile is .4 AUs away from the sun, so Sag A*'s apparent size in our sky should be smaller than what's shown in the video.

A lot of these depictions of what they look like are genuinely inaccurate. The real black holes are either enveloped in light from their gravity or they are invisible due to the lack of an Accretion Disc. Still cool to look at tho :P
