This is the Gospel that I believed many years ago: Faith in what Jesus has done for me is the only way I can have eternal life. I still believe it!

Truly, waiting on God to reset my heart from selfish pride ,to a renewed heart of meekness and attitude of humbleness which pleases only his will, yeah not that of my own:this I am not capable to do. God bless

30 minute mark criticism of works as justification. During the Covid shutdown I contacted a group calling themselves House of Jacob (HoJ) and my curiosity was piqued by Acts 15:15-18 so I asked a teacher of HoJ if they were possibly prophecied of by this passage which seems to prophecie of a works oriented people that also recognize Jesus as the Savior. Later possibly 2022 a notice from MSN suggested a sermon of Adrian Rogers concerning the same passage of Acts but I did not read or listen to it and now am curious as to Rogers view as I learned he was a well received preacher. And further considering works oriented groups I realize my introduction and interaction with Protestants in 1971-1976 was with a works oriented organization called the 'Worldwide Church of God' which teachings are promoted in modified ways by numerous groups that broke from it.

29'10"..... "Charities were done out of ostentation." In the movie 'The Radficals', Michael Sattler (martyr) claims, with hypocritical Christians "charity becomes greed." The movie is based on the book 'Pilgrim Aflame' by Myron Augsburger a Mennonite pastor, and now I am curious as to whether the dialogue of the movie reflects the book. "Ostentation" could be considered to reflect greed.
8'25" to 8'42" Spurgeon states the focus of this teaching as narrowly centered on a certain facet of human pride. It may be that men look upon themselves and their colleagues and seek for accolades and approval of one another rather than seeking to follow 'The Lamb'. After attending many hundreds of 12 twelve step meetings, some of which would present arguments recognizing pride as the most pernicious of what is termed 'seven deadly sins', it occurs to me that this teaching from the Bible may possibly parallel, or is the root of those twelve step programs attempts to teach this characteristic of mankind.

14'45" - 15'51"' Spurgeon states he was beleaguered with guilt as a youth. Adolescents today may not be as likely to have a sense of guilt comparable to that of the young of Spurgeon's day. Some things to consider; grooming, discipline, obedience and/or living conditions, including availability of 'toxic' substances and undetermined toxins of natural and unnatural origin.
