Brilliant review Rob. I’ve been thinking of getting one of these for a while. I think given that nearly all my golf is parkland based I might opt for the longer pile mat. I currently use a cheap mat identical to the one you brought out in the video and I’ve never really been happy with it, but it’s all our pro shop have for sale. It’s my birthday next week so I can tell Mrs W what I would like as a present. Thanks again for a great review. 👏👍

Yeah you guys getting pretty wet over there, don’t you?. To be fair, I’m at Sale Golf Club, Manchester and we’re right next to the Rover Mersey. So when that swells we struggle to drain.

Nice video mate, my only concern is would the ball roll off if you’re having to play off a steep incline/decline.

Well I’ve managed to play of it on a degree of slope. But in all fairness, even the other, more basic ones with the bristles that look like tee peg matts (so hard to describe them) can still have the ball roll. So it depends on what degree you wanna find a breaking point in a winter mat. You’ll always have the option of that was the case if using your course winter local rules and playing out the first cut of rough closest to the ball, like all golf clubs should have in place. That’s what I’d personally do it o couldn’t get the ball to stay still on situ

I do love a toggle demonstration 😂 actually Rob this is a great little piece of kit. I have always worried about having to play when you have to use a golf mat as I get obsessed about hit the edge of the mat and hitting the mat into the air. Love the grip system on this and the advantage of changing the turf conditions for different practice.

I bought one a couple of weeks ago after destroying the mat my club sells, absolutely brilliant bit of kit, 2 rounds and still looks like new, I just push it into the ground soI don't get my muddy feet all over it, also get loads of spin off it as well

@@robpottergolf I’d rather not mate. Main thing is, we do what we enjoy so fair game play if that’s your thing. What i’d love to see is a video from a golf KZbinr shedding light on this murky area of youtube. I watch most channels and I reckon it must be the most back stabby race for views and subs. Once ppl get to a certain level they ditch the lower tier folk and so on. If you do a video about that side of things you’d get the most views ever. Rick ditched Peter F, when was the last time Liam from Golfmates bothered with you? James Robinson? In one of Golf mates recent videos he said about how Tubes doesn’t even get back to him now but previously they were gonna do a vid. It all sounds quite horrible.Netflix should donate series about this world!

Interesting. I now live far south enough in the USA where I can play all year and on-course mats are not required. I can see why course owners/operators would insist on them being used.

Oh wow! Didn’t know you’d move further North coz you was living at Dayton beach, when we came over, wasn’t you? Well the left knee is fine now. But I tore my meniscus in the right knee about 8 months after 😂😂😂 As it stands it isn’t causing me any problems but it will need operating on

Par 3’s! Some places may not have winter matting laid down, so it’ll protect the tee’s Par 4 and Par 5’s incase have a downward blow with a hybrid, fairway wood or long iron, or worse fat a driver 😂 They’ve at least covered options, which is better than not having them. Otherwise there’d be people with opposite questions to yours 👍🏻

Neat concept , but it wouldn't work on our Kansas burnt out dry summer courses as the plastic spikes wouldn't penetrate our hardpan ground, ( you need to learn what its like to play golf in 43C heat with a blast furnace for a wind ) You just have to learn how to Pick your golf balls clean around here . Same with winter with the ground darn near frozen......LOL

Solid base on spurk, you worry about hitting the front of the plastic mat but say nothing about hitting the front of the spurk mat that will break your club.

If you’re that fearful, place the ball further forward. If you’re still fearful of chucking it or do chuck it, then my friend, you need lessons and quick!

You said you could hit the front of one of the mats and I am simply saying if you hit the front of this mat it will not be pretty. You meaning for submitting a score card in a measured course in winter? It doesn’t appear so, no. I checked the other day as I edited the vlog
