This method looks much better than other methods I have seen.

I wish I'd seen this before removing my entire piano key bushings. Lol Thank you for posting !

Thank you for this. I have been intending to do this to my piano for over a year, but I've dreaded how long it would take. This doesn't look bad at all.

Hello, curious question, how many meters of keyhole bushing you manage to use for all of this?
@ramonruizasquerino37263 жыл бұрын
Very good work. Could you tell the brand of glue you use for this job? I have genuine titebond hide glue, but I don't know if it will do.
@erwinspianorestoration2 жыл бұрын
We use hot hide glue, which comes in crystal form. You mix with water and keep at 140°F for use

Very interesting ! What kind of glue ?
@erwinspianorestoration5 жыл бұрын
Francesca Bartoli we use hot hide glue. Hot hide glue is fast setting and cures hard so the bushings don’t change dimension. Also because it sets quickly this allows you to work quickly and prevents excess glue absorption into the felt, which can make the felt hard. Hot hide glue is also reversible/removable which is important because keybushings are a wear item and will need to be done again in the future.

why cutting felt flush to the caul, in balance rail?
@jacoberwin21895 ай бұрын
That is how most balance rail bushings are. You may turn the caul around if you prefer to have a shoulder on the balance rail as well, but it is not typical.
@myuncle25 ай бұрын
@@jacoberwin2189 I know it's not typical, but I wonder if there is a valid reason. In theory, the more glueing surface the better, just like for the front rail.
@jacoberwin21895 ай бұрын
@@myuncle2 we usually copy the original, so if there is no shoulder we don’t put one on the balance rail. Don’t have issues with glue surface area when bushed correctly.
