People getting carried away but when you’re not used to playing 2 games a week and in the CL you don’t realise how much it affects you which was why I predicted Newcastle wouldn’t get CL football this season and I maintain that. It’ll also be the reason Villa fade away in the 2’d half of the season when things get serious in the conference league and they need to play their best 11 in both Europe and prem it catches up.

This is a squad being asked to trek across Asia on foot in a pair of Shoezone carpet slippers. City with their 3 full sized squads would find this season a struggle if the same percentage of players were missing. Even they made it difficult at Luton & can we please be mindful that 1) Everton won again, because they've had an upturn in form & 2) Bournemouth won at Old Trafford by a canter. Both of those beat us & we have only won one match against the bottom 5 so far. I dread that game on the 23rd against Luton & saw this would be a struggle back in September.

3-0 against Everton flattered them hugely. Two big errors cost us a game we were very much in. We had a few chances at Spurs at key times that we could have taken. 5 games in a row we've made two subs after ninety minutes and one forced in Pope. This was coming. Away we have sucked and that's typical for a team playing too many games. We paid for not having a deep enough squad. Still been a really good season. Winnable games coming up and a reality that we need to and will invest in January.

I agree about Almiron and the same has to be said about Joelinton regarding football intelligence. The amount of times he takes too long on the ball and end up with a bad decision is staggering, and the passing aren't at the required level as well. Rome wasn't built on one day though, and if the owners are serious about going for the league within 5-10 years of taking over, these kind of players will go in time. Regarding the keeper, just go for Diogo Costa now, he will help to take us to the next level.

We’ve been very unlucky with injuries,i don’t remember the last time we had 11/12 players all injured at the same time,even in the rafa/bruce years. Barnes & tonali both looked like great signings,but no one could have predicted what has unraveled with them. We’re at a sink or swim crossroads now,my main concern is that by the time our injuries clear up,we’ll be out of the cups & down in midtable with the season fizzling out. Also,if we can’t progress in the champions league,i’d rather be out of europe altogether,europa league at this point would be dangerous for our squad & final premiership position. My only criticism of Ashworth is that we didn’t sign another centre back & striker.

The injuries are unprecedented, really. I don't think Newcastle's squad is really that much smaller than anyone elses in the top 6. If you have a look, you could put out a pretty decent 11 with just the injuries we've had this season. We've got enough players for 2 teams and rotation options, but these weird (and long term) injuries are sickening. Not seeing players out for 1 or 2 matches with muscle strains - we're seeing players out for months with dislocated shoulders and back problems. WTF? I've also been a Newcastle fan for about 13 years now and I understand and agree with some of the comments, but with all the injuries and absences, constantly playing the only 11 players in the last 5 games. You have to understand and realize that this was bound to happen. Of course its frustrating but you can't blame Howe and Ashworth for this. It's just unlucky, that's all. We will probably suffer for the next couple of games as well but we will be fine once January hits, just calm down. I'm a Spurs fan, and I've seen this play out too many times. end up hoping for a run to the knockout rounds of CL and just getting the top 4. ‘What’s happening to us?’ The exact thing that everyone said would happen, you have over performed with the team you have and playing in the Champions League has shown that you aren’t quite there yet. Newcastle are a good team but you are nowhere near the level of being able to compete in multiple different competitions. @@archiewall124 ur not pulling the entire starting line up. Prime example u have a left back on the bench y not try resting Trippier a bit and use Livramento and Hall accordingly. Bcuz the press starts from the front line with the full backs pressing right behind them to close the half spaces. But again I’m just not Eddie Howe.

Love Eddie, he is great, but do think how he integrates players has shot him in the foot this season, he needs to learn to trust his squad because when the squad was fully fit he wouldn’t rotate players to start games often enough. He never played Lascelles before the injuries, which he has shown that he could of, so Botman got injured. Wouldn’t play Hall or Livramento, so Burn got injured, kept playing the same 3 midfielders and forwards, so a lot of them got injured too. Hope we bounce back from these defeats moreso the Everton one, as Spurs look a force this season.

Facts that toon fans are too scared to admit: Joelinton Almiron Longstaff Lascelles, Burn are no where near good enough to be playing week in week out. Serious money needs to be spend in January, should’ve done it in the summer when we had the chance. Bad decisions in the transfer market by Howe again. Ps does anyone know why Lewis Hall can’t get a look in when we’ve got most our team out injured? Seems a waste of money to me.

How come Newcastle gets so much praise for being as bad as they've been when United gets shamed for being as bad as they've been despite having similar circumstances and a worse transfer window?
