Would you consider making a video about how you keep their manes and tails so nice

Yep! I love riding without spurs until i need that snap. It makes them so relaxed and they know when the spurs are on its go time.

Yes! I'm doing this right now. Often in the winter I like to take em off and make sure they are still responsive to just the leg. Great tip Matt!

I was just taking to my trainer about the same thing in regards to bits. He said going back to the basics with a snaffle before showing will help with their softness.

Hi again MATT I discovered this back when likely out of necessity! Depending on the horse and situation the use can be really valuable. Spot on Matt it works. Thx as always.

Im glad you are showing that spurs are not needed. Its all on pressure responds and practice. My whole life and i never needed or wore spurs. Thank you .

Thank you for the kind words. It all depends on what you are trying to accomplish with your horse.

I watched this video yesterday and I decided to give it a try, so I rode my Mare who is on the lazier side without spurs and I really had to drive her and ride with more energy but when I rode with my spurs today…HUGE DIFFERENCE!! definitely will be using this technique a lot more often! My mares favorite speed is stop and at first it had some challenges but today everything was so snappy and felt amazing! Thank you for making these videos!

I quit using spurs because my heel mare is very sensitive to pressure. I always tell everyone that it's always better to ask as softly as necessary for anything you want your horse to do,and if you're constantly yelling at your horse, pretty soon that's the only way they understand you

There are a couple young stallions that are scarred for life from the harsh abuse from spurs. Thanks for the input on how taking them off then back on may be the cure

I don't always ride with spurs (Ball spurs to be exact). But when I think my horse needs a tuning for a while. I'll ride with Spurs but once I realize my horse is getting "annoyed" with the spurs. I'll stop wearing them till they need that tuning again.

My one question is my horse is really high energy and don’t feel I need spurs for my horse. Is it a good things to teach him to ride with them?
