Ill never forget that chivers winner at molineux, i was an eleven year old wolves fan at the time sitting on the 3rd row of seats just about level to where he hit the ball, ive never seen anyone hit the ball so hard, it nearly sent Parks in the net with it, i can still hear the thud of the ball when he connected with it , even remember that canister horn being let off in the second game, they had it at the first as well, spoke to the guy who had it at train station, great game, great memories

My dad passed away on the 29/12/20, he was there that night and used to aways tell me about Martin Chivers who was his hero. Then we went to watch Tottenham v Blackburn in the carling cup final in 2002 and we flew from Stanstead to Cardiff and when we sat in our seat he was sat next to Martin Chivers. I mentioned this in my speech at his funeral.! RIP Dad and COYS!

COYS. Spurs and Wolves in a European final! Different times! Loved the vid, thanks for uploading. Steve Perryman was at Tottenham for 17 years, incredible to think of in this day of disposable managers and players in the PL Whatever, great vid, sorry to any Wolves fans who felt they were short changed by the ref this weekend, but that's football!

I was 14 at the time and travelled up on a train, which broke down and we couldn't get in the ground as we arrived during the game so the Spurs fans smashed a door down and entered the ground in the seats. Was moved to the south bank by the police. Not a good view!!

Yes,I was thinking the same, when he made that comment!!Many young players are earning that on a weekly basis!!.And I wouldn't mind if they played the game in the same way, with the same commitment&passion. I think back then, the players were fully aware of how fortunate they were 2b "Pro's".And knew that they had to take advantage of the opportunity that they were given!! Where as now,as soon as a player sign's on the "dotted line"and maybe warm's the bench for a couple of seasons, and doesn't do anything to memorable he still has the potential to purchase a house out right!!

A late reply. The gap was there because a Spurs fan threw a dart at an opposing goalie. I may be wrong but I think it was Man Utd's. The authorities as a punishment closed half the Park Lane end off as a punishment.

Not true. Chivers scored 13 goals for England in 24 appearances, with a strike rate better than Hurst, Hunt, Peters, Keegan and Channon, all his contemporaries as England strikers. In fact no England striker in his era (1970's) scored more goals for England at a better strike rate.
