Ill never forget that chivers winner at molineux, i was an eleven year old wolves fan at the time sitting on the 3rd row of seats just about level to where he hit the ball, ive never seen anyone hit the ball so hard, it nearly sent Parks in the net with it, i can still hear the thud of the ball when he connected with it , even remember that canister horn being let off in the second game, they had it at the first as well, spoke to the guy who had it at train station, great game, great memories

My dad passed away on the 29/12/20, he was there that night and used to aways tell me about Martin Chivers who was his hero. Then we went to watch Tottenham v Blackburn in the carling cup final in 2002 and we flew from Stanstead to Cardiff and when we sat in our seat he was sat next to Martin Chivers. I mentioned this in my speech at his funeral.! RIP Dad and COYS!

COYS. Spurs and Wolves in a European final! Different times! Loved the vid, thanks for uploading. Steve Perryman was at Tottenham for 17 years, incredible to think of in this day of disposable managers and players in the PL Whatever, great vid, sorry to any Wolves fans who felt they were short changed by the ref this weekend, but that's football!

I must be around your age bro! Martin Chivers was something special! Pity he didn't earn more England caps than he did! As a neutral I feel the same about Derby's Kevin Hector and Leeds Utd's Allan Clarke. What a strike force they 3 could have made!

Thanks for a great upload. As an 11 year-old Wolves fan I was at Molineux, too. To this day I remember Chivers' goal. In Wolves UEFA Cun run that season there was one better: Danny Hegan's at home to Juventus. Would give anything to see it again.

I met Martin Chivers at an autograph-signing appearance at a local sports store in Stowmarket... possibly in 1972 or '73, I'm not sure... I was 9. From that moment on, I was a Spurs fan... until the rise of the money-men and Sky and the Premier League, that is.

I was 14 at the time and travelled up on a train, which broke down and we couldn't get in the ground as we arrived during the game so the Spurs fans smashed a door down and entered the ground in the seats. Was moved to the south bank by the police. Not a good view!!

Here from Dundee love the mighty whites, but Alan gilzean was easy man of the match in the semifinals against the cheats of Milan and probably it still bothered him tht Dundee should have won the European cup 5 years before Celtic after his hatrick against anderlect over there.beat cologne 8-1 at dens Google the rest if u wish n the final was at Wembley tht year..169 goals in 190 matches 12-22 for Scotland winning goal against England.the excact ratio as Denis law 30-58 caps...I can just imagine I won't be cheated a second time..chivers is the first to tell u he ended up playing non league ,,today they talk about assists ,,that's how he only managed 96 for Bill nic played him in a different position hence why he assisted almost half of chivers goals..humble man n like him from the same place ,Dundee n Tottenham are my teams blue n white..thanks mister gilzean ull never know the joy u gave us on both sides of the border......

Yes,I was thinking the same, when he made that comment!!Many young players are earning that on a weekly basis!!.And I wouldn't mind if they played the game in the same way, with the same commitment&passion. I think back then, the players were fully aware of how fortunate they were 2b "Pro's".And knew that they had to take advantage of the opportunity that they were given!! Where as now,as soon as a player sign's on the "dotted line"and maybe warm's the bench for a couple of seasons, and doesn't do anything to memorable he still has the potential to purchase a house out right!!

A late reply. The gap was there because a Spurs fan threw a dart at an opposing goalie. I may be wrong but I think it was Man Utd's. The authorities as a punishment closed half the Park Lane end off as a punishment.

Not true. Chivers scored 13 goals for England in 24 appearances, with a strike rate better than Hurst, Hunt, Peters, Keegan and Channon, all his contemporaries as England strikers. In fact no England striker in his era (1970's) scored more goals for England at a better strike rate.
