Nice to see these officers be cordial and not try to make something out of nothing like so many others. Refreshing!!! I can only suspect the main differences are 'those in command', since when it comes to the rational to harass, intimidate, manipulate, confiscate, insinuate, accuse, criminalize the innocent, trickles down. Good job by you and this station. One thought... Rather than just taking AUGER's word, investigate why Internal Affairs do not take complaints from the public and what their roll is specific to the public complaints process. It may be the POLICE ETHICS COMMITTEE has been inserted between to facilitate accountability, but end up providing 'arms length' deniability, as I see so often. Committees like this tend to effectively behave more like a buffer to civilians, with no real accounting and/or correction, especially when those employed are ex-cops and sycophants. This is a phenomenon of DIVISION. Just like the Catholic Church when it divided into Church and State, the division provided a clean start for both, a rebranding. From that point forward, the Church was provided an arm's length deniability whilst the State became the resource of physical control. Over the years, the state continued to divide over and over, creating the bureaucracy reminding me of 'three card monte' whenever an "undesirable" attempts accountability.

​@@quebec_copwatch The REAL reason for the separation of Church and State was clergy was acting as police, judge and jury, "with-one-mind". The church behaved very tyrannically with inquisitions, torturers, and carrying out horrific murders in public under the guise of order. Terrorism. Many were reportedly innocent, much like the "witch-hunts" and other irrational, imaginary, ignorance of the day. The public was in revolt and not only demanded better, they were abandoning the Catholic religion, forcing the restructuring to maintain 'market niche'. I guess it worked so well, it became a mainstay tactic, over and over again. Not that "separation of powers" does not make sense, it absolutely does. That is, as long as contaminations from one entity does not effect another. Ergo, biased hires will of course protect their biases. Infiltration and saturation of the adjudication authority expropriates the outcome of the decision process. It reminds me of the English appropriation model for "undiscovered lands" with indigenous living upon them. I've forgotten the word, but it basically means to populate the land with 'believers' thereby effectively overthrowing whatever was in place at the time. It began with an 'A' I think. Not assimilation but close. The more I learn, the more I forget.

@@jos25582 it's called the plain view doctrine. The same way cops look inside your vehicle, you are absolutely allowed to do the same. Anything you can see from public (or from a private area you are allowed to be in) is fair game.

There is no complaint form. What she gave him was a bazillion times better than in the USA. In Quebec, it's an independent neutral civilian body that investigates cops behaviours. It's not cops investigating themselves.
