I've been enjoying your hype vs reality series. Hope to see its comeback!

Great review, honest and thorough. I met Jerry Brouwer at the Spyderco Amsterdam meet where we talked about his knife. He explained he designed this knife as a reliable and non-threatening EDC tool. Here in the Netherlands most people aren't very used to see someone take out a knife and can be a bit scared about it. Although we have pretty decent knife laws, most people think almost everything with a sharp edge is illegal to carry. 🤨 He is a very skilled knife maker, and a very kind person. Function over form, as you mentioned in your review, that's true.

Dr. Oëtqer Thanks a lot brother. That’s awesome, and I can totally see that. It’s a great little functional, utility knife, and no one would ever take a second look at you pulling it out to use it. So he really nailed his concept👍 That’s crazy man... I hate the way people are so afraid of knives in certain places, even certain places and people here in California, and a lot of that is due to some of the people in this community that make it all about weapons, instead of tools. Anything is a weapon if you want it to be... That’s great man, and really cool to get the insight into his design and thought process. It’s definitely all about the function on this knife, and I can definitely appreciate that👍

@@inthepocket7405 Thanks brother. 👍 I think it's indeed the way people see knives as weapons instead of tools, which is caused partially by the community itself and also how the media makes it about the knife instead of the one who is abusing it after a stabbing incident. In my line of work, as a special enforcement officer, I come across some 'stabby things' sometimes, mostly it's a kitchen knife or a sharpened screwdriver. That are the ones who can cause some real problems. Most people I meet who are carrying a 'real' pocket knife are just normal guys or gals and using it as a tool. I am glad I had the opportunity to meet him, and yes, I think he nailed it with this design. I still have to get myself one. Haha

ive used this knife since it came out. its really the only edc knife i have ever absolutely loved.

I love the Kapara, but I don't consider it an EDC knife at all. I use it in the kitchen exclusively now. I am looking at this as a "beefier" version of the Chaparral, which is in my rotation as an edc.

I love this Bouwer knife now. It is such a great knife with a little modification. Very functional and I would highly recommend.

Looking back a few months - this was the video why I bought the Brouwer and I am really loving it. The ergonomics / feel in hand is fantastic.

That’s sweet! The acid etch looks so cool with the forest green.

I always thought it was a good looking design. I thought it was going to be more popular. To me it seems like a design with a lot of potential

This is my favorite knife I have copper scales on mine and love it 1000x more it has an amazing look and shape to the blade and makes amazing sound when being flipped
@inthepocket74055 жыл бұрын
Bryan Wallis oh man... copper scales😳 it’s both the show side and the lock scale? That’s pretty cool man, and I bet it does have an awesome sound👌
@bryanwallis42155 жыл бұрын
@@inthepocket7405 no I meant scale it still has the Ti lock but the copper scale definitely gave it a bit of heft which makes it feel really good in hand now not that it didn't before but it just has that good weigh in hand.
@bryanwallis42155 жыл бұрын
@@inthepocket7405 I need to learn how to do my blade the way you did Thomas's because that would finish off the overall look of mine with the copper scale taking a nice patina with an acid etched blade.
@inthepocket74055 жыл бұрын
Bryan Wallis yeah, gotcha man. That would definitely look killer with the copper scale👌

Just ordered one and the copper scale too, negative reviews have kept me from buying it but I’ll be the judge!

What is your sharpening system? The knife is the size I like to carry for an EDC.
@inthepocket74055 жыл бұрын
Mick Keim I use the KME, especially on other people’s knives. It is great size... easy to carry, and big enough for most edc tasks, but no one would ever bat an eye at you pulling it out.

Good work on the video, very thorough. I really didn't care for the forward choil area, I wanted to choke back and it just didn't work for me if I wasn't using the choil. I found it to be well built, but just from a design standpoint it didn't fit my preferences. Pretty rare for me to watch a thirty minute video about a knife I've already owned. Guess that means I like your stuff. 👍

JT's Knife Life Thanks bro. I can totally can understand that, it’s definitely awkward. Definitely not one I’m going to miss. Wow... dude, thanks so much🙏 I know I’m a long winded bloke haha

I've never seen this knife before.. It's amazing and you nailed the finish on it🙏 I love the contrast between the dark blade and mirror edge.. Good job my friend👍 It's my kind of knife cause I love framelock

Marek Masar thanks a lot buddy, and I really dug the way it came out too. It’s a great little functional knife, and it didn’t quite click for me, but it would definitely get the job done, and I definitely wouldn’t kick it out of bed, if you know what I mean😉
@marekmasar52165 жыл бұрын
I know it's not for everybody and I never held it so I just judge the knife from what I see... Maybe I would change my mind after experiencing it for a week but fact remains!!! YOU NAILED THAT BLADE!!! It's gorgeous

It's a cool little knife. Probably more useful than my Smock which is more of a fidget toy than a user. Thought about getting the Chaparral and Para 3 but the Sage 5 kinda satisfies that itch.
@inthepocket74055 жыл бұрын
zero2three1 I would totally agree there. I haven’t tried a sage 5, but I do want to eventually get one.
