7redi what has your sharpening been like?? Before I wait 2 more years and buy maxamet para 3 haha

Using diamonds for the rough profiling down to medium then going to a sharpmaker for medium to ultrafine, it actually works fine, maybe even a little faster than S110V.

This is an interesting comparison. Between these two, I would lean toward the Endura due to the blade design. I have several VG10 Enduras and they are adequate for most things I use them for and I find that, at almost any given point, one of the colors will be on sale.

Thanks to your videos I've gotten the zdp endura, but I'm sure you'll convince me to get more lol. Thanks again for your awesome videos Pete. Keep up the good work friend

Both really neat knives. I have each but in different steel. I also love my zdp-189 Stretch for the same reasons. I think it hits a sweet spot for me when it comes to a user knife.

have you seen the cold steel test? the manix held up pretty well on spine whacks. that's why I went with it instead. already have a nasty cut fromvblade closing

Like every other blade in a folding knife dude!!!... The blade rotated from it's axis and caught part of him before he could move that part out of the way... It really doesn't need more explanation than that...

One thing to note is that Maxamet isn't stainless. No idea how easy or hard it is to rust tho. How are you finding the sharpening between the ZDP189 and Maxamet? Especially if I don't have a powered sharpening system?
@CedricAda7 жыл бұрын
+subroc the ZDP is also barelt stainless, too. I think its very difficult to fit any stainlessness into such wear resistant stuff. The maxamet and Zdp both generally strop back quite well. The ZDP i have sharpened and it wasnt tooooo bad. Still notably longer than s30v for example. Maxamet is wearing its worksharp edge still and may continue to - its as sharp as I'd want right now!

I love the pm2, but you are quite right, the tip is very fragile, I bent the very tip while I was cutting a clamshell package. I have the same worry about the para 3 tip
@Hornel667 жыл бұрын
The Para 3 has a beefier and more obtuse tip then the PM2. It seems they did that on purpose to fix the PM2 tip problem. It's also likely why the Para 3 had a higher blade from edge to spine. It increases the tip angle.

I know I'm late to the party here but by accident I have found that the best way to deal with those delicate Spyderco tips is just go ahead and snap about a 1/16" off and then repair it. Yes I know that sounds crazy especially after spending a lot of money, but it will be a lot tougher if you do this. For the life of me I can't understand why Spyderco grinds their tips down to such a delicate thickness to begin with. I like a little "meat" behind my edges lol.

Do you still feel the same way after the Maxamet unleashed test?

I owned a 940 and I like the manix 2 better for looks feel and fidget ability. I understand it's your opinion it's ugly and cheep feeling and no fun but that's not the case to a lot of people

Wait why is the spydiechef not as hard working? I'm interested in getting one but I would be using it hard as well as for food prep
@CedricAda7 жыл бұрын
+Aaron Rowe I would probably work just ad hard but it is definitely also a 'nice' knife - the titanium will get scuffed and the liner lock will migrate over etc. All superficial things, of course. The chef would have no issues actually doing hard work, for sure:
@CedricAda7 жыл бұрын
+Aaron Rowe its a little too nice, I think - the titanium will wear loads of snail trails in a work environment. Theres nothing wrong with it at all, but these two are sold on a bit of a 'beater knife' platform

Idk about them not having fidget factor cause I play with my lockbacks all the time. Maybe not as fun as a flipper or axis lock but still fidgety.

I have this Endura in Zdp.It is not bad for an edc but extremely uncomfortable for heavy cutting.
@CurzonB2 жыл бұрын
I find Maxamet easier to sharpen than ZDP-189, or S90V...maybe I'm the only one. I'm also talking about Spyderco heat treatment for all 3 steels...I have some Spydercoi S110V, but I haven't had to sharpen any of that just yet.
@Wolf_K2 жыл бұрын
Maxamet sharpens quicker than S110V to me. I’ve reprofiled both steels on a few different models and I keep observing the same. Maxamet also takes a nicer edge than S110V in my experience. That said, S110V is my favorite stainless.

endura or pm2 ergonomics just respond to 1 of my comments to answer all my questions thanks peat loved the video
@CedricAda7 жыл бұрын
I would go: Comfort/Ergos, Blades cutting ability, fidget factor, Steel (as long as its good for the price), and appearance. I think the Pm2 probably has better ergos for my hands... only just though
