Spyderco Factory Seconds from the July 2023 sale

When knives don't quite meet Spyderco's quality control standards, they are notched on the spine and sold as factory seconds. Spyderco only puts seconds on sale once or twice a year. Buying a factory second can be a great way to obtain an expensive knife at an affordable price, but it will have at least a minor flaw of some sort and it will not be protected by a warranty. I picked up factory seconds of a couple of models I already own, so that I can heavily use the second while keeping the first-condition version in pristine shape for my collection.

I got my factory 2nd para 3 maxamet last year for an incredible price and it’s my go to EDC now. Its kept its edge really well and has only seen a strip from time to time.

I got S110V Manix 2 about a year ago and I haven't been able to find any problems. I love the knife.

I snagged a sage 1 max myself, it had 1 little snail trail on the g10(it actually had a little round sticker pointing to it, i haven't seen any other with that sticker yet...)...amazing knife so far...

I'm glad it panned out for you. I bought a Blurple PM2 with S110V steel. The blade was mangled so bad I'm doubting I can get it right. The blade was off center too. Got that fixed but the grind they did is a real terrible thing. Learned my lesson, won't be doing it again.

The sale was announced on the Spyderco website and on their social media. I think the first place I saw it was Instagram.

Incredible score!!! I was only able to snag 1 knife, the native in maxamet. Pretty happy but wish I could have got more. By the time I was able to actually get in the site everything was basically sold out. Any tips to help next time around?

It seemed like there was a period, about two or three hours into the sale, when the site was more-or-less usable and there was still a lot of inventory available. But who knows if that will be the case next time or not. Glad you got a Native in Maxamet-great blade shape and great steel.

How did your deka sharpen up ? I had to sharpen 3 times before it took a good edge . Good scores 👍 I got the pm2 m4 from smkw for $140 unexpectedly

Using iPad and PC…..5.5 hrs. of refreshing, timed outs, frozen pages, lost carts, erroneous fraud codes (when I’ve purchased before)…..and I got ZERO knives. Worst website buying experience ever👎

All I can say... IS HOW IN THE HELL DID YOU GET THAT ORDERED?????????? with 1000mbps service, hardwired computer it took me 7 hours of trying to end up with 2 each of maxamet natives and crucarta pm2s

I guess I was lucky. I did have a lot of trouble loading the site using the Safari web browser, so I tried switching to Google Chrome-I still had some server timeouts but not as many. (I don’t know if this actually made a difference or if it was just how I perceived it.) After the first few hours the page seemed more stable and there was still a lot of inventory left.
