Wish I’d been able to snag this S90V Chief. I consoled myself by getting two M390 Chiefs, (paid $270 total; for both). Spyderco’s M390 is excellent, (62-63 HRC).

It's worth the price when you consider the size of the Solid carbon scales and large piece of S90V, Especially when you compare to the new Carbon/S90V Bugout. I plan on buying the Cutlery Shoppe Native chief and swap the DLC XHP blade with this Carbon Sprint.

Long comment warning (just re-watched your video) ... I got the Chief in Rex 45 a few weeks back - for a purpose of being my 'workshop knife'. Let me start with saying that I can only confirm many of the points you have made. That means using it in a controlled environment where I need that flat-ish blade profile and acute tip. The knife is very solid with excellent F&F and after adding a drop of KPL on the pivot and tang the knife is crazy smooth. But I really wish the handle had a little more width/height and that it would keep the width of the hump towards the end. I personally would prefer a 1/2" shorter blade (and I am still considering to 'chop it') as even if I choke up as far as possible and put my index finger on the spine - I am still more than 1" from the tip. I may try to make a new handle, but don't have a way to easily to make precision drilling, so the result would most likely be wonky (one needs to nail the relative position of the pivot and backlock bar pin positions). I would love to see Spyderco making a version between Native 5 and Chief with a handle more like on the Shaman. That would be the ultimate workshop knife for me. For now I am going to keep it, as I am not aware of any other knife from Spyderco in a tool steel that would give me the utility I am looking for.

The price would make a whole lot more sense if the scales were 3D contoured and not just two rectangular bars.

Me too, usually I find spydercos to be on the ugly side but this one looks great. Thanks for watching

Do you find the carbon fiber to be easier to slide in and out of the pocket vs the standard G10 that Spyderco uses?

i got mine in my mailbox yesterday , as a birthday gift to myself , such a beautiful knife . its my new edc fruits cutter. it slice them super easily without sprotching juice everywhere and i can even go thru big ananas without having sticky hands at the end . then yeah the weight make it barely noticeable in your pocket . and as i have that guilty pleasure to look at people faces in the street when i take one of my knife out of my pocket and open it , just to cut an apple . this one have a more badass clic sound that catch attention. love it

That’s awesome, I was carrying this knife a little bit recently, and I am really enjoying it. When I first bought it, I thought I might just sell it after I did my review, but I think it is gonna be sticking around. Thanks for watching
