This is a hype vs reality review on the Spyderco Police 4 with Bohler K390 steel. In this video I do size comparisons as well as show footage of me using it.

Remember the movie "Training Day"? The Police 4 was the knife that Alonzo (Denzel Washington) used to torment the rapist in the alley. I think he might have had the stainless steel combination edge. According to KZbinr Apostle P, back in the '80s, the police--the actual police--asked Sal Glesser at Spyderco to design a knife for cops to replace the Buck 110, which was deemed too heavy, and Sal came up with The Police. The Police and the 110 really are strangely but fundamentally similar: very long, slender, pointy...and scary.

Coming from carrying a 6" Cold Steel Ti-Lite (Aluminum), this nice looks so small and comfortable to EDC! Thanks for the great review 🙏🔥

Lol yeah, no doubt about that bro! It’s really a comfortable carry for the size of it, and it capabilities. Of coarse man👊🙏

I love seeing that your knives are actually dirty and used :D I always wanted a g10 police model, but they were out of stock for years. Now that they have the k390, it has fell off my radar. Figures.

I recently bought the Police 4 in K390, and it's now my primary EDC knife, and my backup EDC is my Benchmade Osborne. I do have a gripe that Police 4 has blade centering problems. I will send it to Spyderco for warranty work, and it will be a good test of Spyderco's warranty, repair service, and customer service. You did an excellent knife review.

Good review man. Imagine this: “Delica 5”, a delica with K390 (or M390 / 20CV), G10 with color options, stainless backspacer, and a “police 4”-style front finger choil 😳

I have the Police 4 and the resilience. Nice big knives. The police 4 has better steel but if you care for the steel as you should the resilience will do fine. Love them both.

I'm looking at a Police, I would have liked to see an Endura comparison... The Police is a BIG knife. lol Good job on your videos.
@inthepocket74055 жыл бұрын
JMSIII thanks man. Oh yeah, I kind of prepared myself for it, but was still surprised nevertheless hahaha I would have compared it to the endura more, but I don’t have a lot of experience with the endura. I have a v-Toku2 endura that’s still brand new, because I liked the police and military a little more, and didn’t want to use it if I could still sell it as “new”. I was going to grab another one that wasn’t a sprint, so I could beat on it, and not have to worry about the resale. Thanks for the feedback bud✌️

You should try a cold steel broken skull 63.99 on amazon for xhp my old one was great my new one came with a horrible secondary grind but fixable

Dude you make some good vids! How did you go about extending the sharpening choils on your 940s? Trying to fix up mine a bit without making it look ugly
@inthepocket74055 жыл бұрын
Marco C Thanks bro! I clamped the knife down, and used a dremel with a small round carbide bit. You have to be careful not to go deeper with the surface where the axis bar hits in closing. After I extend the choil enough, I come back with a finer file or ceramic rod, to smooth out the grind marks from the lower grit. I had a video of me doing it, but it got lost when I was trying to edit my original kme video, that was never seen haha

the military is hard to find now, and when you do, its price is a little daunting. the police 4 lightweight (frn) in k390 is about 160$--that settles it for me.
@derzkoeradio3 жыл бұрын
It's became Military with Police handle. Now it's hard to recognize a Police among others knifes, isn't it? ::::)

What do you think is the best spyderco knife for self defense purposes??? Im torn between getting the Yojimbo 2 or the Police 4. Let me know what you think.
@inthepocket74055 жыл бұрын
Well, first off, I’ve never handled a Yojimbo 2, so I can’t really make a firm assessment on that comparison. Also, I’ve never had any formal knife fight training. If I was just trying to assume, I would probably lean towards the yojimbo in tight situations where you have to get it out and deploy it fast, which would most likely be any of those situations. If you had a second to get it out and space to deploy it, the police is a beast, comparably, and they are both stabby, although the yojimbo has a thinner tip do to the hollow grind.
@nickscharger53045 жыл бұрын
That makes sense, okay would you go with the original police or police 4? I like the original police plain edge... but do you think there would be a serious grip problem with the all steel handle and lack of jimping, grip contours. For example your hand posibly sliding down the handle onto the blade. OH ONE MORE THING: Do you think the word police thats on the kinife blade could be legally/technically misconstrued or articulated as impersonating a police officer? Thanks, I appreciate your feedback and hope my question doesnt seem crazy lol.
@inthepocket74055 жыл бұрын
Nickscharger honestly, I would go police 4 every time, man. Insane steel upgrade( although more matters in edc use, not self defense), upgrade in primary grind(for both), over an ounce light(for both), and g10 is going to be more grippy (both). So, I would go 4, and feel it’s worth the extra money, personally. Although, if you personally don’t find value in what I stated above, then maybe it’s not worth the extra dough. I don’t think people get the wrong impression from the police branding, and if they do, they’re idiots Hahahaha no problem man✌️

I guess size is subjective. I dont think it's all that big.
@inthepocket74054 жыл бұрын
Of coarse... it all depends on where you live, and what you are used to. I enjoy larger knives now that I have been carrying them, and this knife doesn’t feel as big anymore. It’s all perspective

Bento box has k390 pm2s.
@inthepocket74054 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I’ve been so tempted to get one of those. I just don’t really love the Pm2, and I have so many para 3’s. If they had come out with these a year ago, I would have one for sure, but I will probably just keep this as my k390 example, until they come out with another template in it.
@thedrmurchindise4 жыл бұрын
I feel it. Different strokes for different folks. If I cross the line into a k390 pm2 I'll have to sell my collection because it probably will take over my pocket.

I will keep my eyes out, but I haven’t heard anything about them being discontinued. They are probably just working on new models right now. I haven’t had too much trouble with ebay, and they will refund you if the seller doesn’t comply. I hear ya man.
