It's so cool that the guy running the show at Spyderco gets in front of the camera, talks about and breaks down their products. I really appreciate this. Eric, DM me if you guys want a passionate knife/steel nerd at your Golden plant. I'd even do janitorial work or answer phones to work for such a stellar company... and live that close to Mount Evans. Keep these vids coming!

This is my favorite knife. The stretch, manix and twosun’s ts270 are up there as well…but there’s something about the shaman that just makes me happy. I think it’s the beautiful simplicity, comfort in use and fact that, if you needed to, you could really get some work done with it. Specifically the z-wear shaman…if I were forced to sell all of my knives but one, there’s a good chance that would be the last one standing…

My favorite Spyderco (actually my favorite folder overall). Have a few of them, but the Cruwear version with carbon fiber scales (I added) is my EDC back pocket knife. I think if you carry a Shaman, you are ready for any task you may encounter. 💪🏻🧐

I'm anxiously awaiting my first Shaman, a Micarta scaled M4 model. Such a great design for a hard use, work folder. This is one model that I'd love to see in a fixed blade, maybe with a larger 4.5" - 5" blade in a good tool steel like M4, 3V, etc.

There is no doubt the shaman is one of, if not the most beloved spyderco knifes, can we have an explanation as to why there so much priority to produce redundant variants and re-stocks of less popular designs meanwhile the shamans are remain out of stock, with no re-stocks in sight and with no knew variants? Since retail prices have risen by 53% since its release, it can’t possibly be because it’s not lucrative or worthwhile to produce for spyderco, so what’s the hold up, we’re dying for more here! Love the brand, just want to understand what’s the holdup on the phenomenal model.

I don’t imagine I’ll get a response however it’s worth a try, a friend of mine got a 15V shaman and took it apart and the washers had stayed completely still on both sides via the burrs from the pocket clip holes. The scales weren’t de-burred around the edges of the scales either. Is this normal? Only one side of the tang of the blade from the pivot hole backward had worn in. Is this typical?

Love videos do more please. The shaman is great but....the tip of the forward choil pushes my finger out of the compression lock. This reduces the fidget factor, but also reduces the ease of break in. If I did not have a dlc blade I’d probably grind off an eighth inch or two mm from the most forward part of the choil, just saying. Any suggestions for tuning with attention to this? THX again, Steve

Sorry, Isaiah! Even though we hear this request occasionally, it's not something we're inclined to do. Sharpening choils are something that people either love or hate. It's a lot easier to add one than it is to remove it. :) We've gone into deep discussions about this on our forum. We'd welcome your participation.
@Crusty_Otter2 жыл бұрын
@@SpydercoKnivesOfficial That explanation actually makes a lot of sense, it's easier for the buyer to add one if wanted or needed than to grind them in at the factory and alienate potential buyers who would rather not have them.

Great video and by many accounts a great knife. What is unfortunate for me, Spyderco has made another great pocket knife design in Colorado, that is just barely not legal to carry in Colorado. A 3.6" blade made in a 3.5" legal carry state is ironic. but I respect its design. How about a Colorado Legal limited run?

I just picked up a garden variety shaman in stonewashed. sealed box - first opened, and noticed immediately a LOT of blade play, closed and open... also, and even more concerning to me is there's an interesting thing, I've not experiened with any other folder so perhaps this is just a "spydie" thing, but as the blade on the Shaman reaches almost full extension, there seems to be TWO stages of compression lock... an audible click about 3-4 degrees from fully open, like it's stuck on the bar or something, then finally snaps into fully locked position... so... anyone have any insight to offer - first spyderco - first compression lock - is it a dud? or is that what we get now for north of $200??
@rhinosaur. Жыл бұрын
The two stages you're feeling is just the detent ball slipping off the blade. The ball slips off and the compression lock bar rests directly against the blade briefly before it slips into the tang cutout and locks. That's perfectly normal. The blade play is not normal. Start by tightening the pivot to see if that helps.

Great knives . Well thoughtout clearly....BU, you must know there are a lot of knife guys who prefer blades with sharpening choils. Why not offer a "w/ sharpening choil" versions of the same knife?? Give us the choice while sticking to your "design beliefs/philosopy"?? I mean as the blades are being machined it would be so easy to add a sharpening choil...would sell that many more knives :)) An d make a lot of people happy. those that are on the fence about buying their first Spyderco--because there is no sharpening chiol on most of your knives...
