Cleaning the factory grease out should make the action a lot better. The bearings are multi-row and the balls are relatively small, it makes for a pretty unique feel. Edit: its definitely flat ground. They changed it between when the initial info was released and the knife was. They clarified it on the forum. Mines super thick behind the edge. I even brought it to work to use the same calipers i use to QC jet engine parts, and i got .023" at the (5mm long) thinnest part, .028" for most of the flat section, .030" at the mid-point of the belly and .035" at the tip.

I appreciate all the additional info, including about the grind and the pivot. I'll clean this one out, I just didn't have time since it arrived a day or two earlier and I think I grabbed one of the last ones from NC Blade. I'll check behind the edge again as I don't have the most accurate calipers but I did get 0.20 on my first try.... 👍🗡️👊

Who clarified the flat grind on the forum? I haven't seen anything official from Spyderco, could have missed it though. I sent multiple emails to Spyderco asking about the grind but they didn't respond.

My copy is definitely flat ground. After reading your comment I pulled it out again and laid a straight edge from the top of the grind to the edge at various points and it was flush at all levels of the height of the blade grind. And looking at spyderco's website they list it as a hollow ground blade, as does blade HQ. So definitely a mystery to me, but I know how to determine hollow versus flat on a blade. Something fell between the cracks somewhere in putting out the specifications on the Spymyto. 🤔🗡️🤔
