Spyderco Spymyto Review - More than just hype!

I’ve been carrying mine for 90% of the past 2 or 3 weeks. Haven’t been easy on it (it has been whacked many times on wooden objects) and the m398 is holding up great. I think a good heat treat and thick blade stock are helping with this. It has broken in nicely and action is good across the board. It’s just a great edc. Great size, and also with its weight and deep carry clip. Oh yea and I’m lefty and it works great Most people hating on it are either mad they couldn’t get one or didn’t give it a chance.

I'm on the fourth edge on mine and the edge retention is improving, but the geometry is always gonna keep it from being representative of m398's potential.

FWIW, Pete did do a video on M398 generically. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZe8nJqrn5V0fJY 900 cuts, good stain resistance, seems like it fits the intended use case.

Its not a hollow grind. The initial release info has it listed as hollow, but they clarified it on one of the threads on the forum.

Got it. I was really bending over backwards to see it, figured it was just VERY shallow, but I trusted the Spyderco product listing. They should change it over there if that info is wrong.

I did not like mine at all. The geometry is just downright bad and it’s really shady for them to unveil as hollow grind and release as ffg

Yeah, I was disappointed to find out about the grind, as shown in the comments here. I will say that it cuts better than I expected given the geometry, but it's no super-slicer. Thanks for watching!

It's one of those unfortunate Spyderco collaborations that would look better without a SpydieHole.

Well great part is, you can just buy a Lionsteel Myto if you want the same design without the spydiehole! Personally, I like the look and feel better with it.

Say what you want but the spydie hole makes it look unique and it actually looks really good with the crowned spine. Works amazingly too.
