I like the Tops Rapid Strike too but I believe my 2 favorite fixed blades are the Street Beat and the Street Bowie, they just both feel right in my hands.

The cargo pants I usually wear have deep front pockets. My Street Bowie fits perfectly and the sheath thumbs off at the draw.

IMO this knife is perfect on all counts, including (and especially) the sheath. Those who experienced the horrible sheath of the Street Beat needn't fear the same with the Street Bowie - the sheath is PERFECT.

Actually no, the sheath is injection molded crap- it dulls the knife just like a CS secure-ex.

It's a beautiful knife, to be sure. I just want to throw out, though--its SO easy to make a knife like this yourself. If you've never made a knife, go for it! You can do it with minimal tools and some elbow grease. It's a very fun and rewarding hobby. Not knocking buying one--I'm just saying. You want a great, at-home hobby for grown ups? Go for it!

I wonder are those little loose grommets steel or aluminum? Steel is easier to tap and tighten.
@richardhenry19692 жыл бұрын
What your opinion now on it. Has it stood up to your opinion. I personally really love the design. I also like the steel choice. To me it's a knife that I can use for more then just in case. I try to carry knives that I can actually use but are very capable. I always carry a xl vaquero because it's the best self-defense design I've ever found. I just love fixed blades. They are just hard to carry comfortably. Any advice on how it carries? That other fixed blade was beautiful (couldn't spell his name)
@TheKnifeJunkie2 жыл бұрын
I do still love this knife. The sheath can be challenging in terms of rattle and overall size, but I don’t really even mind that any more, though I’ve been thinking of making a kydex sheath for it for sometime. If I’m the fence, go for it, it’s more than a self defense knife.

How good of a slicer is the blade? The profile looks sweet. Just curious if they went thick on the blade and how it performs.
@artoturunen48163 жыл бұрын
I have Spyderco Street Beat LW, which is smaller but has same blade profile. Street bowie edge in this video looks the same as Street Beat factory edge. It was terrible for it's price (angle was around 20-22,5 felt like it had been sharpened with P1000 or P1200, as if the knife was planned to be used as puukko or some bushcraft knife, which in theory makes sense because you can always reprofile it away from bushcraft-style edge if you don't plan to use it that way. After reprofiling it to 18 degrees and sharpening with P3000 it cuts really nicely. VG-10 was quite easy to sharpen. Sheath grommets are not a big deal if it's IWB at 45 degree angle.

So I just got mine. My sheath is like yours. The grommets sound like maracas.
@dick_richards3 жыл бұрын
I suggest wearing it scout carry. It's about 5 inches away from the draw, and the natural sweep of the arm puts the handle directly in the hand when positioned right.
@wingardwearables3 жыл бұрын
@@dick_richards I should try that. Right now I’ve taken the clip off and am carrying it in a simple “bandolier” with flat stock paracord (think 550 paracord without the core). I have the big loop of flat stock tied to a strong plastic alligator clamp that clips to the waistband, that way the bandolier’s position doesn’t shift around. The flat stock is routed through the grommets of the sheath so that the knife hand is just at waistband height, sheath pointed up under my arm. Conceals well even when wearing a t-shirt. Draws in ice pick grip or saber grip depending on hand position. But I should try scout carry out and see if it’s comfortable sitting in a modern butt cupping car seat. Thanks for the suggestion.

@@wingardwearables My Pleasure, yeah the only thing with the scout carry is it tends to need a sweatshirt or jacket to conceal. Excellent for winter, not so much for summer.... Lol unless u don't care, then the skies the limit! Lol Have a good day Brother

@@TheKnifeJunkie I've been running this knife with my shoulder harness for a couple of weeks now, and it works really well. Extremely light, and low profile against the body. One of the Bastinelli's would be perfect too. It also balances nicely with the Empress on the opposite side.

Are you happy with it? I recently stumbled across this blade at a local online knife dealer (I’m overseas). It’s the last and only one he has. $110 incl tax. I’m a bit hesitant. Is the handle hard/grippy, or sticky/squishy? Thank you.
