All the early reviews I've seen suggested that this knife has a few issues with it. All said though, it is really cool looking and I love Spyderco for their unique offerings.

Just me, brother... an imperfect, often flawed dude who is willing to subject himself to trolls on KZbin. I'm just a dude who's willing to get in the trenches and talk to the folks on KZbin who are knife experts, along with those who have never posted a single video on the subject, yet consider themselves experts. I've made it clear in many videos at this point: I'm not a knife pro, but I'm always trying to learn more about knives. Sorry to disappoint. -Ben

Thank you for the correction! I think I meant to say under 1/8 inch or .125 I'll throw in an annotation in the video.

Since you use your right hand, it's likely that you're putting pressure on the lock bar with your fingers as you try to open the knife. Check where your fingers sit, and adjust accordingly.

The stainless steel on the lock bar isn't to make it easier to open, it's to keep the lockbar from deforming. Steel vs titanium never ends well. When your all titanium lock bar interacts with your steel blade, it ends up deforming and can lead to lock rock, so they put the stainless steel insert in there to prevent the direct contact between the two

Yeah... that's what they've said here in the shop too. I've tried multiple grips and angles, yet I never seem to get it right. Call it my personal kryptonite?

he was saying they added jimping to it to make it easier to close.

.157 isn't over 1/4 inch.

The steel is to reduce wear on the locking mechanism. Titanium will wear and the framelock will lose its integrity. This is a known problem with titanium. The steel piece is in place to support and strengthen the lock up.

Good review and a ver nice yet strange knife. If the blade is .157 inches its not over a quarter inch though a quarter inch is .250. Just a small correction.

Why isn't the tuff in the spyderco 2014 product catalog?

This is a cool knife, but kinda weird at the same time. The blade is super stout but with a short cutting edge. Not really a penetrating tip, so its not very "tactical" in purpose. Which means its more of a construction/utility knife. But at almost 7 ounces, only a 3" edge, AND $260....I'm kind of at a loss as to where this knife fits in.

And the steel on the inside of the lock bar isn't to make It easier to open. It's a hardened steel reinforcement piece to make sure the lock up doesn't fail. What kind of idiots do you have working at BladeHQ?

Funny he didn't even know what a lock bar insert was!
