In my opinion, one of the greatest games of all time. The levels were so unique and creative, the music fit every stage like a glove, which really made all the environments atmospheric and mysterious, I loved this game as a kid, and still love it just as much as an adult. Thank you Insomniac.

I love how this song has a calm, yet kinetic rhythm to it, almost as if it's made to synchronize with the way Spyro gallops along.

I never cared for this song or level when I was a kid, but listening to it now, at 25, I love it. It's so calmly chaotic. I actually like the Beast Makers' world a lot more now. I used to hate it as a kid. Dream Weavers is my favorite world.

You know... I learned something from watching playthroughs and playing the levels through out the game in the right order.. There's like a story through each level in each home world.. for example. In the beastmaker's home world you see Gnasty's forces taken control of the swamps and using advanced technology.. You routed his forces but then the natives (the guys in Metalhead and Tree Tops) take the left over technology and use it to kill Spyro. They turned a giant robot that the Gnorcs had built into like a god when they realize that it was destroyed by a purple dragon. (I could be making this up in my head.. but... hey it gives a reason as to what's going on in each level you go through in the game.)

IMO, Metalhead is the only boss which is somewhat challenging. At least you have to watch out for his laser beam and those damn strongarms he throws, as well as making sure you don't hit the poles if they aren't green.

***** Gnasty Gnorc(and by extension Gnorc Gnexus/Machinists) were confirmed to be due to time constraints, if you have seen the beta version which included superflame, extra platforming, and killing enemies to defeat him. Gnorc Gnexus was going to be a full fledged level.
@kl5_racing25110 жыл бұрын
Well, I guess you're right about the bosses being rather simple, but this game was still so awesome that I don't hold that against it. At least they were still creative with them, especially Gnasty Gnorc.

I've played this game ever since I was about four. I'm sixteen as of today, and this was my favorite level in the game, along with Cliff Town. I play this game solely because I love the feel of it. It's an overall easy game; when I was a kid, I didn't know there were bosses. I just thought they were cool challenges for random levels. So I beat every one of them. Yeah, this game was my childhood. And I bought the second one to see if it had that 'feel', you know? Nope.
@kl5_racing2519 жыл бұрын
+Adam Loves Andrea I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO FELT THAT WAY! Now I see that I'm not! I waited 18 years to find somebody to say that. I know right, it just has a charm to it that I could never quite find in the other two, and I had long wondered what exactly this "feel" was myself. Well I believe I've finally been able to extract it. Was it the undeniably genius soundtrack that set it apart? Maybe. Was it the way this game struck the perfect balance between challenging your capabilities without being impossible? Maybe. Was it the way the game had 34 LEVELS and 6 HOME WORLDS in it, yet it still had a way of making every level feel like something entirely fresh and the spark of creativity in each shined brightly through? Maybe. And this one is interesting to note because think about this for a second: In every home world that you visited in both Spyro 2 and 3, they were all green grasslands. Sure, some had less hills, and some had more ponds, and some were night and some were day, but at the end of the day, (no pun intended) it was when we played Spyro 1 that when we hopped into that balloon to travel to the next land that my guess was as good as yours as to what was going to welcome us (or not) once we arrived. Was it the one-of-a-kind idea to stick a small, lovable dragon, equipped with his cocky and determined personality which allowed him to face and overcome all of the challenges that tried to get in his way? Maybe. Was it the fact that this was an evolutionary game for its time, in which you were free to roam large, colorful 3D environments yet it was still able to come through with stunning visuals to compliment? Maybe. Was it the crafty way through which every level seemed to have some kind of secret, and you had to use your brainpower to figure out how to conquer them all? Or was it a combination of all of these to create a unique experience that is paralleled by none? More likely. This was the first video game I ever owned as a child, and is the single most nostalgic game for me personally that I have had the fortune to own. I was only 3 years old back then and for whatever reason, I decided to pick it up. But it was one of the best decisions I ever made. A decade and a half later I am still enjoying this game. I got the other two installments when I was 6 and 7, and while they were also a joy, I will never regret my decision of picking this game up. I got my brothers to play this game, (yay!) I ask my friends to play it. Assuming I'll have a girlfriend at some point, I'm going to want her to play it. Everybody needs to give this game a shot. (And I mean a legitimate shot. Not that you shouldn't get addicted the first time you start it up, but hey, there are always those people who play two levels and just give up on it.) This game didn't try to be too much, (cough, Spyro 3, cough, I mean no offense but you see what I mean) nor did it try to be something it wasn't (cough, Skylanders series, cough) It had no expectations placed upon it, and sometimes, maybe that's for the better. It proved that keeping the concept simple doesn't detract from the game as a whole. I believe it was all of these concepts combined into one wonderful package that shaped it into a timeless masterpiece to be universally enjoyed.
