Ah winter, while it can be harsh and cold, it is necessary for life to go on, it allows the earth to rest and renew itself, and sometimes it can look very beautiful. A freshly fallen blanket of snow glistening under the moon and stars. Ice crystals frozen on tree branches, glimmering in the sunlight. Winter is also not only the earth's way of taking a break, but is also a good time for us to relax as well, perhaps bundling up next to the fire place, drinking hot chocolate with your friends and loved ones, reading a good book, playing with your pets, enjoying hot home cooked meals, looking forward to thanksgiving and Christmas so that you may all get together and spend time with family. Truly magical moments, as magical as this song is.

I learned a fair bit about how he created the home world tracks quite recently. This composition is taken from a sample track from Spectrasonics called Luminize. Copeland slowed it down by 50% and brought the pitch down by one semitone to get the final product that we know today as the Winter Tundra theme. If you ever get your hands on Luminize, edit it to those specifications in Audacity and you'll see what I mean :) Summer Forest is created from a track called Liquidcrwn. This was brought down by one semitone and the speed kept the same. Autumn plains is from a track called Paradise. Again, brought down one semitone. Luminize was the only one that was slowed down.

I sometimes turn it on when I'm looking for peace of mind or experiencing constant anxiety. The melody gives birth to memories of youth and carelessness. I lived on the Arctic Circle, in a small town. I was 13 years old, on one of the frosty days I just decided to plop into a snowdrift and lie down in the absolute silence of the tundra. I watched the stars and the aurora borealis. No matter how old I am now, I remember this day as today. Sometimes I want to go back to it. This melody helps to remember

Makes me feel like im trapped in the ps2 startup. Spyro 2 might be my favorite in the series. Growing up, my older sister LOVED playing 1 and YOTD, but for some reason she always thought Spyro 2 was dumb. When I ended up playing it myself, it quickly became my favorite, and felt like “my” game of the series because my sister, who introduced me to spyro in the first place, didnt enjoy it for whatever reason. Im sure she appreciates the game now, but boy did she miss out before.

I love this theme! Winter Tundra is my favorite Spyro 2 hub because the theme is so ambient, atmospheric and relaxing. It really fits with the hub itself because it's so pretty and you can look at the night sky and see the big full moon. Sure the other hubs had some ambient themes but this one has to be my favorite! Nothing like some relaxing atmospheric music that makes you feel like you're flying amongst the winter stars before the final fight with Ripto!

The music for Winter Tundra tells us that even in the darkest of days, even when the sun shines much less often, even when what was once full of joy and color is now covered in black and white and lingering sadness, there is still hope and happiness holding out its hand in the dark. It also tells us that even the snow, the shortest of days and the feeling of time passing by way faster can bring joy and happiness too. If I take my time to listen to this long enough, I can actually tell that it represents that.
@xJisJis2 жыл бұрын
I don't know how to describe it, but I feel like I had major premonition to how much this background track alongside the other hub themes in Spyro 2 would hold to me as a child. I can't believe that at 4 years old, I was capable of realizing "someday I'm going to be older and this music is going to make me feel like I'm this age again" Are kids even capable of those thoughts, typically? Is this a result of precocious puberty? It's just such a wild and vivid thought to have at such a young age. Being aware of time and the effects of nostalgia without even knowing what nostalgia is, yet. I'm not sure, all I know is that I was right. This music provokes a deep seated, warm, vulnerable feeling to rise in me, and it feels like a hug from my mother. Thank you, Stewart Copeland, for making such a wonderful ambiance that triggers immense nostalgia in me.

I don't see this song as a relaxing or a chilling one, I see it as the preparation of the end, in this place we now have to end with rypto and with our odyssey, we know that that would be the end. It gives me a feeling of desolation. This plus the feeling of nostalgia makes me feel sad. I remember being a lot of hours here without wanting it to be the end, lengthening my stay, all in my childhood. I think it's one of my first memories. I just love this game, It's beautiful and I would recommend it to anyone.
@gadpivs2 жыл бұрын
This is what I thought too. It's not relaxing so much as it is contemplative. Makes you stop and think back on your adventure, while standing atop a high icy peak at midnight, gazing down at a relatively empty, snow-covered land of magic and isolation, with not a sound to be heard. What's about to happen next? Is this world asleep? Of course, the comedic and child-friendly parts of the game are a little bit of a jarring contrast to this, but it still mostly works, somehow.

I can't decide which is more beautiful, the giant and open breezy sunset that Autumn plains gives with that huge castle and the awesome gliding scene, or the cool night by the glowing moon and thousands of twinkling stars and discovering those caves and hallways that just made you feel warm entering even though you were never in the cold to begin with
@ShaneDawg857 жыл бұрын
Still one of my favorite things to do in this level to this day is to climb, or take the whirlwind, to the top of the castle, stand at the edge of the top step, and just wait and listen. Autumn had ended, and an even colder chill began to permeate the air. I looked in the sky to see the first signs of a long, cold Winter. The dark grey clouds had been gathering, beginning to form what appeared to be a devilish entity. A drop of cold fell upon my nose, and when I gazed into the air, snow began to fall. Beyond where I stood, I saw mountains, all covered in gleaming white splendor. Winter had arrived, and it had only begun.
