Spyro 3 was the first Spyro game I owned. Sunrise Springs' theme is etched in my brain. My biggest disappointment with Reignited was seeing how my two favorite NPC characters (Cloudy Spires and Molten Craters) were complete downgrades from the original.

In regards to Buzz's soundtrack I always liked how there appears to be a faint sound of a buzzsaw cutting through something. referencing not only the bosses name but also the attack Buzz does when he leaps out of the lava to come after you

tbf, Buzz was one of the scariest boss for me when I was young, like, the music and his appearance mixed together caused this strange feeling of danger, of course he's not the scariest since Scorch is in this game and that music alone was horrible to hear back in the day, like, imagine you being 4 years old listening to that song when a giant flying boss with that face is trying to kill you. I think Spyro 3 has the scariest bosses in the trilogy since 1 n' 2 they are just....random monsters, but in Spyro 3 they really nailed how to create something scare and challenging at the same time

I really enjoyed this game. However, I did find the levels too gimmicky and one-dimensional. What I loved about Spyro 1 was how the levels felt more unique. The inspirations for their design and enemies were more loose and more ambigeous. Spyro 3 was like *insert generic culture/environment level here*. Spyro 1 levels made more use of the environment, they had more verticality and layers - long glides, supercharges, secret paths etc. Spyro 3 (and 2 to an extent) lost that in favour additional playable characters and annoying tasks. If they wanted to add a character, Hunter was the next logical step.. Spyro 3 also feels somewhat empty as after you complete a level, anyone who initially populated it, has now mostly disappeared. Spyro 2 felt populated and alive.

Just found your channel through this video and I loved it. You did you a great job with pointing out the game's strengths and weaknesses. Growing up, Year of the Dragon was my favorite one and remains so to this day. I loved the worlds (yes, even Dino Mines), soundtrack, and general gameplay to be a lot of fun. While there's a lot of mini-games/amigo eggs that dampen the experience, I think the good vastly outweighed the bad. ALSO: something super interesting is that a prototype dated a few weeks before the game's final build was found a while back, and it had a lot of the black label's missing soundtrack intact. So I think it's implied that something went awry during the final few weeks of development that prevented the OST from being fully realized at first!

Spyro three was actually my first game in the series and I really enjoyed it and the hub worlds evolve and get bigger and cleaner if that makes sense the last two evening lake and midnight mountain feel giant compared to the first one not to mention you get to torch moneybags which is so rewarding

I’m French and I played a PAL version all my life. Usually I don’t like much French dubbing on American works, but the French dialogues and voices seem far better to me, more appropriated for each character, I think they have more personality, you should check out ! I guess it’s only about tastes and habits but I really feel that with Spyro 3

Was so happy to see this pop up in my recommended, loved your Spyro 2 video when I found it and was bummed there wasn’t a follow up at the time May be an odd compliment, but you’ve got a great voice for this kinda stuff man. So easy to listen to and I didn’t even realize how long the video was because of it Spyro 3 was my introduction to the series, I would play 2 and 1 afterwards in that order. I think 2 is the best game overall, but 3 will always be my favorite. So many memories of playing it with my mom as a kid, she would always help me with the boss fights cause they scared me haha Can’t wait to see what you do next, I’ll be here for it

"Now I'm Mad! LIIIIZZZARD!!" (My head-cannon name for Her is Saffeara.) For real though Moneybags is his true Nemesis. Like, I can scarcely place any fictional character within the 'Children's Media' that reached the level of manipulation and repulsion that S3 Moneybags reached. Like Damn! Just look at how that whole Cat Hockey dialogue played. He used and manipulated not only Spyro, but the poor Penguin who was Ruined by a Cheating Rynoc. Spyro be like: I'll Show You, Old Dragon Haunches!

Regarding adaptive difficulty, playing on Easy (or dying too often) spawns far fewer enemies on the map than in Hard mode. Take Cloud Spires for example, on Easy there are only 2 to 3 Rhynocs near the main entrance. But on Hard mode, there's significantly more, around five to six plus a giant winged one. Also, the "Dark Spirits" mini-game moves significantly slower in circles on Easy than those on Normal or Hard mode.

I personally love the Variety & Streamlined Levels of Spyro 3 a lot more than the other Games. It’s like every Level is Unique. and while not every Mini-Game is going to strike every Players Fancy, that’s kind of the Beauty of it. You can leave & Come back to any Mini-Game & find an Appreciation for the one’s you like. Like when I was a Kid, I hated the Speendway Levels, but found a New Appreciation for them on my most Recent Playthrough. It’s the kind of Game that opens up Children’s Minds, to attempt the Challenges that are off the Beaten Path of what they’re Used to.

Grew up with the trilogy on ps1. Ive always loved Spyro 3, and its a cause of a mandela effect for me where I swear there was a hole you could enter in Sunrise Springs. To this day I think about it lol. But all 3 are mah childhood. Top five homeworlds for me personally is 1. Midnight Mountain 2. Winter Tundra 3. Dream Weavers 4. I disagree with reignited 3 being lower quality than reignited spyro 2. The reignited version of 3 was co-developed by sanzaroo games. There are lots of small details in reignited 3 that are gone in 2. For example, money bags has unique talking animations for each line in Spyro 3, not so in Spyro 2. I do agree that both look worse than Spyro 1 though

Great review of Spyro 3. I genuinely was surprised on how much I agreed with most of your takes. I definitely as an adult see how the amigo missions are kinda not that great. My biggest issue is that Spyro is fast, with powerups flies better and has powerups that substitutes his lack of power, separating those abilities and putting them into specific characters that aren't as agile to me is kinda a backstep, even Bentley who I also love, is also very slow and lumbering and when you spend most of the game playing and being used to the speed of Spyro, it feels like a downgrade. I do love the menacing nature of the Boss music though, it definitely adds to the horrific nature of the magically created creatures. Really enjoyed the OST though, probably my favourite of the OG trilogy.

I still remember Spyro Year of the Dragon fondly. I think even kid me felt the game tailed of towards the end (for various reasons, people mentally checking out, deadline doomsday, corp interference) but I always felt the variety of Spyro YotD is what kept pace with the original two, it was like the developers set a goal to introduce as much new mechanics and game modes to really ride into the sunset with. The Skateboarding, Sparx Levels top down levels, the new character based levels that again all had variety. It's not hard to see that every area got a downgrade due to this larger scope. I did actually like the first home hub, it felt odd, like the magic used to create these worlds wasn't the same. But i can't disagree about the points you made. If you look at the wiki, you can see some level comparisons for Spyro, I still think Toys for Bob did a fantastic job redesigning YotD levels even though logically it maybe had the most crunch if they did build them asset wise chronologically, but on reflection I think it's just the core level designs in general in YotD didn't quite stick the landing. I felt Spyro 3 had the weakest opening levels in the original three, going through the list it's only when hitting Bomboo Terrace do I find a level I say "yes I would play that right now" then all the levels in Evening Lake are bangers. Just to for all the levels in Midnight Mountain to fall flat again. Whilst this is a Spyro 3 video, I do have to agree T4B missed the mark on some character designs, but most importantly the voices. The voices in the OG 3 were on-point, funny even when they didn't mean to be. Sadly they missed that in the reignited remake.

Spyro 2 and 3 were my most favorite games in the 90s. I remember when I was younger, I managed to 100% both of them, unlocked both Dragon Shores and the infinite Superflame Power-Up for Spyro 2 and unlocked Super Bonus World for Spyro 3. Dragon Shores...really wasn't 'a vacation' as Spyro had said in the beginning of Spyro 2 to me, because it was based around a theme park with nothing but rides, a dunking area and a place where you could watch the cutscenes from the game itself. BUT Super Bonus World was LITERALLY a vacation for me for Year of the Dragon! And I NEEDED that vacation badly, especially after collecting all 150 eggs and all 15,000 Gems. I HATED Reignited Trilogy.

Spyro final battle with the sorceress should've focused more on his powers and abilities rather than man made vehicles. He's a dragon for crying out loud. It's ugly for a dragon to use military weapons when a dragon is already dangerous and powerful. Why do you fail to see that? It doesn't make any sense, stupid how people defend mediocrity. And no, it's not fun. It's tedious, stupid, boring, and underwhelming. Say what you want about Gnasty Gnoric, at least you burn the shit of him like a dragon supposed to do. Ripto's boss fight is the best in the trilogy with crush and gulp right behind him. You were right about everything else such as other characters taking too much focus from Spyro in his own game, but the idea of a dragon using man made vehicles, especially for a climatic battle instead of all of his natural powers and abilities he learned all the way up to this point is stupid, dumb, lazy, and a sloppy way to end a franchise. You're wrong about that for the most part and there's no way to get around it.

If I came to play as Spyro the Dragon, then that's what I came here for. I don't care about these other lame characters who aren't interesting or as fun to play as then Spyro. While they may be entertaining, that doesn't mean I want to play as someone other than a purple dragon. And to make it worse, you put Spyro in machines as if being a dragon isn't cool enough. I know it's a video game, but simple stuff like that easily makes this the worst game of the trilogy. Although it could've been better, there are some redeeming qualities such as getting revenge on Money bags, but it's not enough to save the game, and to make it worse, it doesn't even feel like a Spyro game. At least Spyro 2 was able to reward you with the permanent superflame after beating it 100%. This game is overwhelmed by boring minigames and characters no one cares about. The reward you get in the end is also underwhelming and not worth the 100% completion.

I replayed all of the games, but especially the third game, over 20 times... I used to have it memorized which save files I completed in which order each time. I genuinely am so sad at how scuffed the third game is in the trilogy. The way the game controls/the angles of the characters (Bentley) when you play them is really terrible
