The original Spyro trilogy is a perfect example of a game series NOT afflicted by sequelitis. Every single one of those three games are masterpieces, and the music quality only goes to show it. So menacing, so powerful, so suitable for a boss such like Spike.

the originals are amazing. I also really like the Legend of Spyro trilogy. those ones are masterpieces of newer graphics and a in depth story. Dispite that you still cant beat the classics

Copeland really went above and beyond for this soundtrack. It takes a lot of effort and dedication to make a song so fierce and intense despite it only being heard a single time in the whole game.

HARDEST boss fight of my childhood, but easily better than most bosses in games nowadays. Despite the long history I had with him as a child, I still love this guy...and now I want to go pop this game in and fight him again.

This is definitely my favourite Spyro boss battle music. It's so epic, plus Spike was really challenging so this fits perfectly. Despite him be really difficult, I did enjoy fighting him, now I wanna do it again!

In my opinion at least, once you know what Spike's attacks are like and his pattern, he isn't extremely hard to beat. I had a rematch against him yesterday, and the only times i got hurt was because of the hot air steaming up. I've fought far harder bosses than Spike.

I always viewed Spike as sort of the threshold from the easy difficulty of the first two hubs into the more challenging levels of the second half of the game. After you defeat spike, the game gets more difficult in the last 2 hubs.

I remember when I was really young and played this game. When I got to this boss, I'd always ask my dad to do it for me. And he always died near the end, where Byrd drops the blue spikey-thingies. Damn, I always got hit there. XD

I think this song actually fits the Sorceress's Lair more than it fits Spike's Arena because this song was remixed in Agent 9's theme and Agent 9 appears in the Sorceress battle.

I think that this song was actually intended to be used in the boss fight against the Sorceress rather than Spike's boss fight. I think this because 0:46 to 1:24 is a remix of a section of Agent 9's Lab.

when i was yong,i always got frustated at this boss,when he gets the blue plasma and shoots a eletric wave,i always died in this boss no matter what,but im 14 now and more experienced with controllers and stuff.so playing games that i played when i was 4 is a good experience because you sometimes frighted the shit out like the final boss or laugh like the rinoc level

Im so happy that there is no skill points for beating a boss flawlessly in this game like there was in Spyro 2. It is NOT EASY AT ALL to not take any hits in this. Only once have i been able to do so. Also, if you die 10 times in this stage, Spike actually becomes easier! He will shoot less projectiles and will take less hits to defeat. also his special attacks last shorter than normal. How did i find this out? Well... I think you can guess...
