This was one of my favorites on your channel. The useful info you share with us is great. I'm no installer, I just enjoy car audio as well as upgrading my personal vehicles since 1986. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge. It is very much appreciated.

Agree with you on this subject biggest problem I'm having right now is location to axis point I'm using a dsp to keep them in check and redesigning the door panel so as to get the best angle and air quality for the speaker and in this thing to keep tweeter along same plane I'm hoping this will work and get the leg out of the equation lol. Nice job on video

Before I finish watching this, just wanted to say the music to talking volume levels are perfect this time round. Probably spot on in the last few videos too, but I know some of the older ones the music was a little loud. Ok, back to watching =D

Holy cow. I am using a 4ohm 6.5" Silverflute midbass in my doors. Qts 0.24. Midbass is very lacking. I should be using the Orion CM65 that I have been looking at. Slightly better spl but Qts is 1.13!! My doors are huge (2008 Pontiac G6 GT coupe). They are well dampened. Thank you for your explanation... now I have to spend some money lol.

You have probably heard of that fellow on soundman, Doug Bernard. His belief is stick the mids and the tweeters way down low in the kicks and doors. He states that this mounting location provides the best imaging, however I have tested this theory, and I have found that my legs, the steering wheel etc get in the way. So my morel 2.5 midrange will end up in the a pillar, and my hertz Mille pro tweeter will be mounter on top of my factory speaker grill as far forward as possible.

Hi Peter , you spoke about 2“ driver, SO audio 55 neo is realy a good one , its shallow and it plays from 500 hz@12 db to like 16-18 khz and its realy easy to install. It require like 120 ml and its only 20 mm deep i think. Stay safe.

So if youre forced to use a factory location, say top corners of the dash, a wideband driver with a midbass in the door would be a better option than a tweeter in the dash and midbass in the door?

Why does the speaker being buried in a thick baffle matter for the sound, because the back wave being colored shouldn’t matter, right?

Hi Peter, just wondering your thoughts on Dynaudio Esotar2 650 woofers in 2-way active, in that 500-2khz range you speak of in this video? I’ve heard many people say they are one of the most “musical” 6.5” mid woofers money can buy

Question Peter, Should we put rear fill 3.9's and tweets in the C-pillars or in the B-pillars (around knee high). We have them in the A-pillars already. My SQ build is all critical mass. Just want to get your advice and maybe some pros and cons. Any info would be helpful. I have been following your channel now for quite sometime and want to thank you for your time and effort for sharing your plethera of SQ knowledge.

Hi Peter, This golden rule of seting xover to twice of Fs is applicable for midbass as well ? Or its only for mid range from 300hz
@Grippoish
@Grippoish 4 жыл бұрын
For midrange on the dash, does the back of the driver air-space need to be isolated from the cabin completely? Can you use a wave guide/reflector for tweeters to make them act similar to more on axis direction?

@Brian Busch Hahaha...i am always joking to the guy that when is he doing a update on the mule with the mids and highs on the dash where they're supposed to be...I really like the guy, just because he is a car audio weirdo, and just a weirdo in general...just like me. And just like Peter i can admire his knowledge and the way he has made his own succes..I really really like both channels for much of the same reasons...they both have a passion for audio just like me and i recognise much of myself in both..because of the hobby and just the crazyness...

@Brian Busch Yeah i am also copying the a-pillars Peter made for the mercedes E-class couple of months back, with some Mark Audio pluvia 7.2hd widebands in them and a pair of tymphany tweeters...i really don't know if they are suitable at all for that application..but hell i am just going to try...This guys channel has inspired me so much to work on my car again, and tbh so has doughs channel...i just love the hobby..allthough i am in a completely different league the these guys..

This is getting overwhelming. I just want my stuff to sound clear with no lost frequencies or garbled crap and without grating my ears with certain midrange and high frequencies. And I want to get loud with some 5-gum-commercial level bass. I might go with some time alignment and try to get the stage forward and high, but past that, it feels like too much of a clusterfuck to bother with...

What are the benefits of having dual 6.5 midbass drivers in the front doors on a threeway system?
@pssound9749
@pssound9749 3 жыл бұрын
Benefit: more output. Cons: more door rattles, occurrence of phase issues between 2 source points, double the price. I’d rather have 1 larger driver.

@@pssound9749thank you for your reply. And would dual 6.5 midbass upfront help bring the bass upfront better?. Because I have a second pair of 6.5's and extra dsp and amp channels.

If 1 6.5” can’t play low enough upfront, then 2 of them won’t play lower either.

Don't use an OEM location??? HAHAHA. That is what seperates a good installer from a great installer. A great installer can make OEM locations sound awesome without having to chop up your vehicle and keep it stock. Seems like your taking the easy way out.
