Man you were crazy breaking in the new saddle on such a long ride! Seems like it turned out to be a great saddle. I have the Selle SMP on one of my bikes, which I really like. As a cyclist, you know the small fortune we have gone through trying to find the right saddle! Anyway I have four different saddles on my four different bikes. 😂 I think I will buy an SQ Labs saddle the next time I purchase one. I live in central CA, but would love to go to your store and buy it from you. If I ever get a chance, I will definitely stop by your shop! I love your channel and the content! 🚴🏻♂️❤️

@georgevarags7351 Thanks to your recommendation, I purchased the SQ Lab 612 to replace my much loved Fizik Antares R1 carbon because I wanted a "relief channel" that the R1 does not have. Not only is the SQ Lab 612 a few grams lighter than the already light Antares R1, my "backside" was immediately comfortable on the 612 with no break-in time. I now have well over 1,000 miles in the saddle on the 612 and highly recommend it as well.

Thank you George, this is very helpful. I have a SMP Lite 209 on my road bike, and like it, (still move around on it to relieve pressure), but it's the best so far. I've purchased a SQLab 6OX Infinergy ERGOWAVE active 2.0, have yet to mount it on my mt bike. I'm running a WTB Volt, (tried a Spec Phenom), and others, but your video gives me hope that a flat, step-up saddle w relief can work. I wear bibs w good pads.

Bought Ergon SMC Core and SQ Labs 60X Infinergy saddle, both utilise BASF PU foam also used by Adidas on their shoes. Both super comfortable but do prefer SQ Labs because I felt more seated/planted on the saddle better while with the Ergon I would often times slide more. The PU foam on both brands really work to alleviate soreness.

Thanks. Great reviews. Yep, the quest for comfort on a saddle is such a particular thing. Coupled with a solid bike fit, it can be a lifelong journey. Yet others can just sit on any saddle with no problems and wonder what's up with you lol I think Sq Lab have the right idea, and I know a lot of fitters and riders love them. I tried the basic *610*, and while they did (do) a brilliant job of elevating the area off the perineum, the cushioning was so minimal that it hurt the seat bones too much. My friends recommended the *611 Ergowave*, which they say has a lot more cushioning. So let's see.

George - What angle are you using for your SQ saddle? As in, setting a flat plane from nose to rear of saddle across the top.
@SeeYouUpTheRoad Жыл бұрын
Just put the saddle on the bike and ride it then make adjustments. This doesn’t need to be complicated. Bike fitters make such a big deal with all the smoke and mirrors to impress you either here on KZbin or in their fit studios. I am a bike fitter of over 20 years. I put the saddle on. I eyeball it somewhat flat or ask the client how they like their saddle. Then I sit them on it and make adjustments until they are powerful, efficient and comfortable. I never use a tool to set up a saddle. You shouldn’t either!!! Thanks for watching and please consider subscribing for more myth busting.

I Love your channel… Very informative. I bought this SQlab 612 ergowave S the RAISED part of the seat that is used to give you the Soft tissue more room was very very uncomfortable.. It was like two hard nodules jamming me in the sit bones… 😣
@SeeYouUpTheRoad Жыл бұрын
What model is the S? Did you mean the R? By the way, I did a video why I was getting rid of my R saddles - short nose. I also shot a video on why I don’t recommend the Active saddle. Both of those have those pronounced ridges which I don’t like. I recommend the regular not active 612
@FrankieD777 Жыл бұрын
Yes I seen your video on those ridges. I got the short ergowave S-tube rail… I’m a bigger guy so maybe not good for my frame type.. Seats are so different for every person it’s just trial and error… I am back to my Selle Italia SLR with the big cut out center and short nose boost and just got a proper bike fitting and things are feeling good…

@@FrankieD777 good for you! However, both the short nose and the active are a terrible representative of the SQ Lab saddle. You should try again with the standard saddle. When you decide to purchase the standard please consider purchasing from me - it’s the main reason I do these saddle videos.

Hello George, great informative video. I would like to purchase an sqlab 612 ergowave active 2.1 saddle but I'm not sure about the correct size. My sit bone width is 11,5cm. I ride a road bike and my saddle to handlebar drop is of about 5-6cm. I usually ride on the hoods 80% of the time and maybe 20 % of the time, for example on a descent or riding a headwind, i'll go to the drops in a more aero position. Would you reccomend 13cm or 14cm for the saddle width? Cheers, David

Hello - I would recommend a 14cm. I measure 10.5 cm and ride a 14cm. I think (without knowing enough about you) that a 13cm would be too small. Every KZbin channel will ask you to subscribe. It’s a call to action. If you don’t ask for people to subscribe many just don’t even think about subscribing. Countless times I am exchanging comments with someone and I’ll ask if they’ve subscribed and they say oh wow no I hasn’t yet I will now. Lastly, the more subs the more leverage you have with people you want to interview, products you want to test and evaluate and so on. In other words, the more subs the better you can provide content for your viewers. It seems to me you shouldn’t be on KZbin if you don’t like someone asking you to subscribe to their channel. You also have no idea how many people have reached out to me for consult and for purchase of an SQ Lab saddle because of this video. Just today someone called me to discuss his personal situation and purchased a saddle. It doesn’t seem they were put off by me asking them to subscribe. So I will continue to do what I’m doing because it works.
