Been playing Squad for 5 years, I loved it then and I love it now. The devs have done an amazing job with the updates, and I'd honestly say that it's a shining example for early access games in terms of the hard work and effort put in by the dev team as well as their interactions with the community.

Before you buy this game, ask yourself this: Am I down to travel really long distances with the possibility of getting blown up by an IED, and am I down to have no action taking place for long periods of time? Keep in mind: This guy is showing you all just the exciting bits.

I often find I can still have fun even without being in any action. Moving as a logi together to set up a HAB to initiate a flank to capture a future objective felt exciting because I knew we were having an impact on the match. On the flip side in a game y sturdy our t am wa son a constant back and forth between attacking and defending, where I found a btr in the woods and alongside two other people we rode into the objective and wiped the floor with them, allowing us to retake the point and win the game.

jason dickman it really depends on a lot of factors, but the longer continuous walking/driving times usually last between 5-20 minutes in my experience though it is usually no longer than 5 minutes ( rarely it can last for more if your team is completely incompetent and there’s no transportation or FOBS close to you)

At the same time sitting on a roof with a TOW alone and fucking around chatting with your squad can be entertaining too. Then you see an enemy squad and get 1 kill before they spray into you, then waste your last tow shot on infantry (heat rounds dont rly splash) and getting blown up themselves. The sometimes long periods of quiet make the intense parts stand out

These types of comments are so annoying. Your acting like these games aren’t their own subgenres of the pvp genre. Battle field for big cinematic battles paired with vehicle combat. There hasn’t been a modern militaristic battlefield in 7 years (excluding hardline ofc) and even still that game wasn’t trying to be hyper realistic at any point with large scale destruction and jumping from jet to jet. Seriously how are you going to compare ww1-ww2 combat to hyper realistic mil-sim Cod excels in cqc and is absolutely nothing like battlefield focusing less on teamplay and vehicular combat and more on run and gun trying to earn score streaks. Stop acting like to play one game makes you less educated like your part of a wine snob club. Let people play what they want without your snooty air about you and respect that battlefield are so different squad, aren’t squad and that you aren’t less sophisticated for playing one or the other. Squad is one of those games were you will only have as much fun as your teammates are willing to let you have. If you are on a team with a bunch of micro squads not communicating, your own squad mates are running off randomly, and no command to speak of: you are going to have a game where you are left dying constantly, running for ages because HABs haven't been established, and you will probably feel like you never want to play again because it was chaotic boredom with no direction to speak of. . . But then there are the games where whole squads are moving together, taking flanks, and are being backed by armor, and helicopter support as the whole team rushes to siege an objective, supporting each other and working as a TEAM. People laying down smoke mortars from mortar bases in the back, machine gunners supplying covering fire as you all systematically sweep the enemy off the cap and find yourselves laughing, and frantically scuttling to cover as the medics dolphin dive into the bodies of the dead and dying, and keep everyone pushing in. Watching as Command hits the enemy from behind with an artillery barrage that shakes the ground, as you all rush to capture the enemy HAB, spamming the screenshot button at just how bad ass the whole thing is. You tend to win these games, and in the end the whole lobby is just laughing, and saying GG. Because it was in fact a good game. These are the two extremes of Squad, and normally you will be somewhere in the middle, but when those GOOD games hit, even if you lose, you realize what this game is really capable of supplying the player: a great sense of teamwork, and accomplishment. Something most games can't even begin to scratch on the level Squad does when it works. You will get to know your Squad mates, and feel sorta like a big family as you fight from town to town. All those shitty games are worth the maybe 2/10 games where it all just fits together and clicks like clockwork with everyone doing their job and communicating. I just got out of a game where our whole team was struggling to take the first objective. We lost all our armor support immediately, as the ticket count dwindled on and on. There we were, with 7 tickets left when I told the other squads we need to push as a team or we die here, to throw all the smokes and grenades we could muster, and do it quick, no respawns or we are dead. We all gave it our best shot, and although the bodies piled up as the wave after wave of friendlies pushed like angry ants into the objective in a scene that was complete chaos, just as the ticket count got to 2 tickets, it flipped to 120. We got the capture, with I shit you not: 4 teammates left standing out of 50, and pushed the enemy back on the brink of losing as the whole team lost their shit that we somehow pulled it off. That energy remained, as the whole team pushed from objective to objective on foot, with only one logistics truck to support the whole team along the way. We ended up winning after a grueling 1 hour and 14 minute game where we all were on our last legs in the end. That is what Squad is about. You and your team make it what it is. Nothing else.

I've recently gotten interested in more realistic shooters, I've been playing a good bit of insurgency sandstorm and the gunplay in squad seems pretty similar. I'm defiantly more interested in squad after watching this video

I’ve been playing squad for 3 years now and I can say that every new update just makes it better. The sounds, explosions, teamwork is really great. But one of the coolest features I think is the vehicles. Being able to blow out engines and tracks and visually see it is amazing.

I very much prefer Squad over Insurgency. The game modes and scale are just way more fun in Squad. Sandstorm to me just feels like COD but with more realistic weapon handling. The actual gunfights in Sandstorm are very run-and-gun though and I don't find them realistic. Squad is way less respective.

Was gifted a PC with parts from 2013-15 from one of my friends who builds and repairs computers. Haven’t really found anything I’ve been able to run smooth, at least not the modern triple A titles. Things like BF4 run fine, and I’m hoping that Squads will as well. I’m either going to have to wait for it to go on sale, or hopefully be selected for that code. Regardless, you and the videos their website has directed me to has confirmed my interest in the game. This was a great and quick review of the game that I’ve been watching for weeks. This is the best FPS I have played since BF2, but must admit that being shot repeatedly by the invisible man does get a bit tiresome, esp when having to walk from base across open sniper fields - you might have to join a squad, but it doesn't mean that you have to play as part of of that squad, so snipers are a camping and you have no real chance of seeing them...

Greatest multiplayer experience I've ever played. I actually got this game for free from my friend when it first came out. I didn't like it very much when it first came out, so I really slept on it until a few years ago. Wow, has the game changed. Now I've logged in over 2300 hours on the sumbitch. Every game feels unique and fresh in some aspect or another. The capture points change up, the maps are huge, and all of the different factions add another level of meta. Depending on who your commander and SLs are also makes a difference. Some people only play commander and/or SL, so it's not unlikely you'll get to know who your leader is and their playstyle. The game is a hybrid between Battlefield and milsim games like Arma. It's not for lonewolf. It's not for snipers who stroke it to their K/D ratio. Those are mostly the players that make up the haters, as well as people thinking it's just a casual shooter like COD. The games last over an hour at time, which some people dislike. Overall it's a great game if you enjoy teamwork, communication, and results linked towards the team's effort as a whole rather than your own.

9:14 Wrong, minimum hardware standards is a lot worse than you expect. The one that was shown hasn't been updated(nor that it was ever an accurate estimation). You *need* as strong of singlecore performance as you can get; UE4 game thread(handles logic, physics, network replication...etc.) is bottlenecking the whole thing so it doesn't matter what your gpu is(within reason). CPU definitely requires a Zen2 Ryzen or top end intel. Older rig is precisely where Squad can fail due to the above; new rig with low-corecount(within reason, so at least 4; like 3300X) but good singlecore performance will fare much better. Nvidia's more multithreaded cpu overhead on drivers can help it even more, on top of UE4 being a product of nvidia fanboy.

Yes, and it's every bit as fun as PR with updated graphics. With 1.0 we now have 100 player servers. We've been on 4km^ maps for ~3 years, and I think a couple of the maps are 8km^.

The training course is like 15-30 minutes max. Afterwards it’s basically learning on the job. The community is pretty helpful. I’d recommend joining a clan with their own servers though for a better experience.

The majority of players are helpful, if you tell them you're new they'll answer any questions you have. It's steeper than most games, but you should have the infantry basics down and able to survive and reliably identify and kill enemies in 25-50 hours. Vehicles obviously are going to take extra learning.

I've been debating if I should buy this game or not. It's driving me mad lol. I suck at fps games. And I don't have a headset so I don't know if I can even play it. I have Arma 3 and love it. I played Battlefield 5 and loved it but I suck so bad at it

squad is okay, its just that youll have more fun watching saving private ryan since this game is really really slow, and the majority of tatics are just building fobs to win, theres rarely any middle ground if youre winning youre gonna win if youre losing guess what no comeback.

Anybody now getting really bad fps with the new updates? Used to get 80 and now 40-50 mainly due to the 100 players. GTX 1080 / i7 7700K - both overclocked.
