Imagine being part of a russian tanker unit and getting killed from an rpg that is pronounced the same way as marshmallows over a campfire. Edit: I know the SMAW isn't "technically" an rpg. I put in rpg because I was afraid if I put in rocket launcher instead, that someone might get a bit confused with TEL's or MEL's which are types of mobile missile launchers, and I put in rpg because I really don't know what the difference is between an rpg and a rocket launcher.

SMAW shoots a 9mm (9x51) tracer than the rocket to confirm its the target. Those rocket's are really expensive, Uncle Sam wants you to make sure you hit your target. Lot cheaper to aquire targets 9mm (9x51) than 83mm rocket's.

I wish they all had rcos(acogs) and full load outs because those optics are standard to everyone. Also the smaw i have a bit of a problem with because when you switch from spotting rifle to rocket you're supposed stay aiming down optic. Getting out of the optic kinda defeats the purpose of it. I get it, it's a game but its kinda gets me because I've carried and used one.

Squad is set (nominally) in the late 2000’s (2007-2010?) so the RCOS was still new(ish) equipment as was the M27 IAR. Of course, Squad does still take liberties with equipment to maintain gameplay balance, so there is that…

@@zanaduz2018 the rco was adopted by Marines between 2004-2005, the original sight for the smaw was crap so it was either rco or iron sights and the iar was first used in Afghanistan in 2011 and the first time i saw one was in 2012 then in 2013 when a few were issued.

fun fact there is a SMAW mk2 that doesnt use a spotting rifle on the side, but uses a laser targeting system. that spotting rifle was hell on your back. there was never a good way to carry it

If someone hasnt already corrected Drew, the Mk153 SMAW does not use 9mm spotting rounds nono it uses .50 BMG spotting rounds, loaded down to match the ballistics of the projectile, a 9mm would have too much drop at longer ranges, which would be bad for the operator wondering why he's shooting so damn high at 500m
