My tip to y’all having more successful convoys, keep a “dust interval” the enemy can’t just bottleneck you to hell, and most of the time you can react when the lead vehicle gets hit, 50 meters should be enough!

damn the convoy and ambush felt real. giving me ptsd slightly. I spent 9 years in Iraq and Afghanistan. LT 1st Marine Division. 2001-2010 This is exactly how it is. riding through a city. Then it becomes empty out of nowhere and rpg hits a truck and return fire soldier dies. ugh

Okay lesson of the day? If you do conduct an ambush you want to hit the first vehicle first and the last vehicle.. the key is to hit the first when the last vehicle is also in the kill box and you want them to get hit at the same time so they can’t escape your welcome

To answer your question, it really depends on the army branch and specific unit tactics. But in general as per doctrine, if we're talking about the US army, once a vehicle convoy gets into an ambush, they generally keep moving forward to get out of the Killzone. If a vehicle is hit hard and becomes inoperable, the rest of the convoy keeps moving forward outside of the Killzone until the convoy commander calls halt, then squads/teams are assigned and sent to eliminate the contact and others to rescue the soldiers in the inoperable vehicle. Marines on the other hand, follows a more bad ass doctrine. Once they get into an ambush, they stop, dismount and push towards the contact to eliminate them. Disclaimer, I haven't served but I'm a military doctrine and a Milsim enthusiast. This is solely based on the general doctrines of the branches mentioned above.
