The commercial where Charles Barkley said he was not a role model was the greatest truth ever told in a commercial. He said the parents were role models. And that is the absolute truth of the human society in general no matter where it's found. If your Dad ran out, and you're a young man being raised by only a single mom, how the hell are you supposed to be a good father? By looking at what some goofball dunking a basketball is doing? That's what Charles Barkley's point was. Unlike most idiots in pop culture, he actually thinks and tries to solve problems.

Some athletes go down in history among the greatest in their sport, despite never being a championship winner. Charles is one of them. I consider him to be on the same level as Sir Stirling Moss, the greatest F1 driver to never have won a championship title. I think that a Team full of Barkleys (in his prime) could take on just about anyone. Yes, there were better players, but he has a completeness that was dangerous beyond his own abilities.

One of the most impressive plays on a basketball court I've ever seen was when Charles Barkley was still with Philly. A opponent shot a 3pointer & Barkley came out of nowhere & jumped up & caught the shot( he didn't block it he caught it) & then he ran the floor & power dunked it, it was awesome!!!! Trading Moses and then the rights to Brad Daugherty set the foundation for the beginnning of the end for Charles having long term success in Philadelphia. In those days, basketball was won in the paint and the teams with the best big men tended to win the most championships. The Sixers never game him the center and power forward he needed to compliment his game.

Also saw Michael Jordan against the Sixers live,Hershey Hawkins defended MJ alot and got ROASTED !!! The Sixers tried everyone against Mj,even tried the janitors, sercurity guards and no one could stop MJ !!! LOL. When I was stationed at Nas Oceana I took a flight back to Philly to visit my then finacee, while waiting for my return flight back to Nas Oceana in walks Charles Barkley into the waiting area.He sits down several rows behind me.Everyone was staring at him,Barkley looked a little bit uncomfortable,I wanted to get his autogragh, but was AFRAID.Barkley had thrown a guy badgering him thru a plate glass window.Mustered up the courage, went over to him for an autograph,he was very kind, smiled while he autographed my basketball mag, joked with me,then I left. Then a whole mob of people surrounded Barkley and sercurity had to wisk him away thru another entrance. Barkley was very nice too me and I've never forgotten it,I love him on TNT.
