It is nice you show the "economy " way. How about showing replacing with proper bushing or entire strike bolt assembly
@SquarebodyStuff7 ай бұрын
In my experience, thos "economy " way lasts longer than the parts house replacement stickers. Those bushings are more brittle and break on me withing a year. This pex has lasted since I've made this video and barely show signs of wear. And my doors still shut as good as new.

I didn't know about the PEX trick untill about a year ago, read about it on GM Square Body forum. Truck shuts way better. Too bad I let it go like that for 14 years or so

Best decision you ever made. Square Bodies are money pits,. Just plane bad engineer over all.

I recently picked up a ‘77 K10 and found your channel. Just wanted to say thanks for sharing the PEX trick! Can’t believe how much better the door shuts for next to no money and a few minutes of time. Hopefully I can pass that trick along to somebody else in the future, and maybe even give them the extra 4’ 10” of leftover PEX I have haha! Thanks man.

Thanks for posting, does this work on a loose door also. When door is closed I have about 3/8 of loose play. I could pull and push door in and out about 3/8 I was going to loosen the striker and adjust in towards the interior. You think pex would fix without adjusting striker. It looked like in your video your door did that also. Thank you
@SquarebodyStuff4 жыл бұрын
The pex should help with that. You still might have to do some adjusting .

i picked up a new striker bolt for my 84 chevy suburban. when i removed the old bolt the backing nut dropped down into the void... how do i access void to replace nut on new stiker bolt
@SquarebodyStuff Жыл бұрын
Pull the trim panel, and I think there is an access panel. Might have to use a magnet to get down in there.

@@SquarebodyStuff I just watched your video on that but my 73 Blazer seems to have no gaps where door meets body. wondering if the latch is the problem since it closes for a minute, then you lean against it and it moves out an inch or so.

I use pvc pipe, and knock it down with a file. It fits tighter and the file takes 5 min. . Just turn/file a few times and bingo.

Might be the door pins as well, or even the hinges. The door has some sag to it.
