BOTH it and the PS4 remaster run really SLOWLY in fact on the PS4 remaster without the 3x speed cheat on the game is just as IMHO UNPLAYABLE as the PS1 version and on the PS1 version Auto haste still didn't make you ATTACK faster then the normal enemies which is why even it sucks.

FF9 will always hold a special place in my heart. It was the first FF game that I finished. I honestly thought this was toast with the rough year Square just reported. Assumed this would be cancelled. I really hope this still comes out!

To be honest this one has more of a chance of being made. The big thing that came out of that report was that Square was getting screwed over by casting TOO WIDE a net with indie titles and Double A titles that werent selling, instead of relying on their bread and butter tried and true flagship franchises. All in all the FF series is probably why Square didnt lose MORE money.

I'd totally be down for an FF9 Remake. I probably don't want them to go out of their way to change things up like in FF7 Remake, but give us full 3D environment, flesh out some of the lore, mechanics, and maybe spruce up the side quests a little. Also keep the game's art style -- I kind of wish they hadn't adopted a pseudo-realistic style for FF7 Remake. Oh, and make it multi-platform. I don't want to have to buy a console just to play a single game.

Been in camp huffing copium since day 1, really hope they still go through with it in the end. Another small thing that can be refered to ff9 is the fact 1 of the cities in Dawntrail is named after one of Zidane's Dyne abilities, plus the Viper class uses both his ingame weapons aswell.

Dawntrail supposedly has massive references towards FF9. Might even see the Qu added. Imagine a frog drop ability for Blue Mages strengthened by collecting frogs around the world.

Wouldn't look too far into the FFXIV/IX stuff. We already know that a new zone in Dawntrail, "Solution Nine" (already a FF9 reference), that was only very briefly teased.. was picked apart by internet sleuths and it's looking like its going to be something akin to Tribal/Iifa Tree/Soul related shenanigans going on. However i do want to believe he was teasing a FF9 remaster/make,! :(

I believe it, primarily because of the animated series. If it is a thing, i would reckon it would be 2025 / 2026. I reckon 2027 will be 7 part 3. Release date will be 30th anniversary of OG. I'm guessing 31/01/2027 for the global release. It's the final part so they would have to release it on a date of significance to come full-circle.

I'm thinking that either the original leaker added FF9 as a joke or it was "Planned" to gauge interest. Then after seeing how much there was, they decided to actually make it. Because at this point as a company it feels free. They can know before they even start it that profit is there. And that's massive for a company. And what's nice too, is that unlike other games where they announce it, then we have to wait 3-5 years to get it, they don't even have to announce it. The leaks and attention it gets are so heavy as they are that Square very well could make the entire thing, show up at TGS or something one year, drop a trailer and be like "Releases next week!" and we'd all be mindblown. Because if it's real, they already know that we know, so they don't need to tell us. And it'd go down in history as a major surprise move. Could be cope talking, I admit. I want this game so bad! But if not, oh well. I'm fine with Echo-S 9 lol

With how popular FFXIV is, I think Dawntrail makes for the perfect teaser before officially announcing a remake. I was iffy but hopeful, but the more FFIX references we got, along with Yoshi-P’s cryptic statement, I’m a lot more confident that’s what’s going on. FFXIV has always been THE reference game, constantly paying homage to the classics, but they’re going out of their way to draw attention to IX. They want us to be on high alert.

Project Memoria really got my hopes up for a 9 remake, their work is absolutely immaculate and gave me so much nostalgia. I don't think Squeenix would try the Remake/Rebirth approach with 9, the game is very self contained unlike 7 with all it's extra media supplements, though it's not 100% impossible they would try. I'm sure they know the negative feedback 7R has gotten, and surely they wouldn't attempt a second canon rewrite that could end up disastrously... right? Slight graphic buff, remastered soundtrack, maybe a voiceover pass, and I'd call it perfect. Job done! 😊 Anyways, Cheers! ❤

I am firmly in camp 3. I have basically believed it since we got the nVidia leak, but I desperately hope we get something more true to the original game than FF7R. FF7R is such a kick in the nuts to me. If only they had at least given us a normal remaster the way 8 and 9 got in addition to the remake. They are such extremely different games its hard to accept arguments about a remaster diminishing interest in the remake.

I find the FF14 evidence that people brought up to be fairly weak as every expansion, including the base game, has had elements themed from the previous games. The post expansion content that just concluded had heavy FF4 inspiration but we didn't get a remake of FF4. It's like people completely forget about this in order to have some copium.

9 is still my Favorite FF game. I don't need a FF7R style trilogy remake. It doesn't need to have that level of improvements/upgrades. The original game in full (extras would be nice), fully voiced, updated music, updated combat (but still proper ATB) would beyond my expectations. Retextures and full camera control and all that would be great. Honestly, look at what they did with Star Ocean The Second Story R.

i never said i didnt like it, while sure i dont "love it" i find remake to be an enjoyable game but honestly the OG storyline wasnt the best and im honestly tired of alternate realities and general KH inspired events from nomura (was pretty easy to predict a good majority of rebirth) and i think people just want the story they know they like with updated graphics ect. Gameplay wise, i dont mind turnbased or action. im perfectly fine with both

I think it is a masterpiece in its own right, but as a remake, it took away a lot of the spirit and essence that the original had. Of course I can only tell you about my opinion, but I do love the active battle style tremendously, but the story was modified beyond my standard. I mean, the whole first game was about fighting fate so they could tweak the story in whichever way they wanted. It took away from the original emotions we felt when we played it first. So yeah, it's a great game, but it should have been called FF16 and just had different sprites.

Next year would make a lot of sense, it's the 25th, and any later than that and it starts stealing some of Remake Part 3's thunder which I think they'll be reluctant to do. Some folks are gonna hate me for saying this, but I hope that FFIX gets a far more polished Trials of Mana treatment. I enjoyed the Trials remaster myself, but with regard to FFIX I think it wouldn't be too far off of a fit aesthetically. Far less whimsical of course, but that chibi-esque feel is what I am getting at.

I would love an FFIX remake with the graphics of the FFVII Remake trilogy, but an old-fashioned combat system - either the same ATB we have in the original, or a turn-based system (I personally am a great fan of the turn-based combat in Octopath Traveler). They could add action combat in a few places where it makes sense, for example during the Festival of the Hunt or the battles in the Treno weapon shop (I know, I'm sniffing a lot of copium here). Also, a remake needs to do something with Trance, it's by far the shittiest set of limit breaks we've ever had in any FF. From a lore standpoint, giving us control about when to activate it wouldn't make too much sense, but at least don't consume the entire bar when you enter Trance and then the battle ends.

Ff9 is my birth game, I’m barely younger than the game by a few months and it is my favorite game that has changed me deeply… when the nividia leak happened I started freaking out in bliss at the possibility of it being real just because of remake being in there. At best we're looking at remaster, and the idea of people believing we're getting a FF9 remaster seems ludicrous. MAYBE something along the long of the pixel remasters, where they might do something more than just use ugly ai upscaling but even then I highly doubt it. Maybe something for the switch 2. I don't know man, there've been "rumors and leaks" about various FF's getting remakes for decades now. I can't bring myself to have high hopes for anything like that, especially considering how current SE has been operating. They considered FF rebirth a flop and then said how they were planning on scaling back single player games and doubling down on games as a service. A remake of an okay selling ps1 single player rpg does not fit that desciption.

Simple remake with good voice acting would be 10/10. Remake/Rebirth did a good job fleshing out the characters but I thought the different timeline bullshit was horrendous.

Did you not hear about squareenix's 'abandonment losses' primalliquid? If it was a thing they'd be chomping at the bit to tease or announce it. It hasn't even been formally announced. They release final fantasy tactics figures 2 years back and they still haven't announced it. Another abandonment loss.
