Thanks for all your help! Beautiful design and nice to think about next growing season as this season dies back 👍 must have been a ton of work to create those graphics...thank you

Your welcome! I am here to share whatever I learn so we can all be better gardeners :) November and December are always for me months when I am dreaming about the new growing season. What will I have what I wont :) And I am already thinking to expand a little bit. I think I can find some more space in the garden that I have :D Yes those graphics are hard to do. Especially with a slow computer :D took me 16 hours to make them :) But I think they are worth it to better explain what I wanted to say. Or are they?
@helen20614 жыл бұрын
@@SmallGardenQuest Yes they are very helpful! Really make the square foot method clear and the sun and shade patterns are particularly helpful. I hear you about the slow computer! I was a graphic designer before I retired a few years ago and nothing is instant ..a lot of input and patience.

Love your videos and enthusiasm for square foot gardening. Learned so much so far. Was not aware that certain plants like/don’t like being next to each other and it affects their growth. Makes total sense when you think about it. I do have one question. In one of your videos I was sure you mentioned a free app that is good for garden design/planning. Cannot find. Which video now or any link. Would appreciate if you could share details of any app you have used.

Another great video! This is my job through the winter. I got a bunch of beds built for my first year of gardening next year but now have to figure how to put everything in. My nature, as far as organization goes, is to put everything in nice even rows but I'm seeing a lot of good things about throwing it all in there together. I think I'll go random in one 8x10 as an experiment and meet in the middle on the other beds with tallest stuff to the North. It's gonna be a long winter, I'm too excited!!
@SmallGardenQuest4 жыл бұрын
Great! Now is the right time to start planning your garden layout! If you want I can help with some suggestions. I don't know what you meant with the 8x10. You will have an 8x10feet raised bed or this is the size of your garden?
@jeremysnaturebook82424 жыл бұрын
@@SmallGardenQuest Sorry, mean 8x4, one of my raised beds, 2 ft high. I've built 4 of those and then three 4x10 smaller beds made of 2x6 boards. I have a parch of rye growing where a corn field will go and then I've made trellises for tomatoes. It's not necessarily gigantic but it's fairly huge for a beginner!
@SmallGardenQuest4 жыл бұрын
Yea that's huge. I started with two 4x12 raised beds 😂

@@SmallGardenQuest I have an even smaller space so I was thinking about use square blocks and containers
@SmallGardenQuest4 жыл бұрын
That can work. If you have a small space I would go with plants that can grow verticaly so you maximise the space that you have

I need to move. Backyards in the suburbs are too small and there's a lot of trees so whatever I plant can't even get enough sunlight lol.
@SmallGardenQuest4 жыл бұрын
How small is your backyard? the shade can be a problem but there is always a solution = an axe :D
@SkintSNIPER2624 жыл бұрын
@@SmallGardenQuest Unfortunately most of the trees aren't mine. The trees are so big that it shades almost the entire backyard. I did manage to start a rather small garden that has just enough sunlight at the side of the house. But unfortunately I can't expand. Gotta start somewhere.

Why is the U-Shape only 2 feet wide? I thought it can be 4 feet
@SmallGardenQuest4 жыл бұрын
If you can walk all around it it can be 4 feet wide. But if you cant its best to have it 2 feet wide.

I would eliminate the wood sides on your beds then you would have more space in your garden,
@SmallGardenQuest3 жыл бұрын
Possibly. But the wind erosion would be greater.
@peachesandsugar13 жыл бұрын
@@SmallGardenQuest I don't use wood sides for my beds, I live in Canada, lots of wind and snow they stay in place, I put down cardboard then compost on top and mulch with straw.
