Squarebody 2” Drop Spring Install

I installed lowering 2 inch lowering springs on my 1987 c10. I remove as little parts as possible to get the spring out and back in. I used moog 6454 coil springs they are stock height for a 3/4 ton pickup. I cut 1 full coil off and heated a small portion of the spring to make it set correctly in the lower control arm pocket.

If I do a flip kit in the back is the c notch recommended?

It’s recommended but you could get away with not running one as long as you don’t go more than 5”

I have a question does the spring makes the truck drop and you also need a shorter shock to go with it? Or you can put this kinda springs on stock shocks?

Yes the springs I used lowered it roughly 2”. Stock shocks can be used but if you go any lower I’d recommend using lowering shocks.

Sorry about that. I film and do all the work by myself. I’ll work on getting better angles in future videos. I’ll be installing some other springs and spindles on it in the future. I’ll make sure I capture some better footage.

Good tutorial bud. I’m currently running the same setup (before the 6454 springs) with flip kit in rear… have shock extenders in rear as well. Running stock size shocks. The front floats a lot on the dippy freeways. I was told those springs would help big time being there 3/4 ton springs. I plan on doing this soon.. my question is.. doing that, did it stiffen up the front? Also, what part did you heat on the spring to make fit the upper and lower lca’s? I’ve never put any heat on springs and are very curious what to due when I go to cut mine when they deliver. Thanks bud. Awesome video!!! Definitely a new sub here!!!

I appreciate the support! The front rides the same as it did with the factory springs not to soft and not overly firm a nice in between. Once you cut the coil off the bottom of the spring I just heated a inch or so back and bent that coil up to make it set in the pocket better. I’ve also been told that it isn’t necessary to do, but I’m usually working alone so anything I can do to make it easier on myself.

That’s all that is involved n changing out springs, I’ve done it a few times so that make have made it look a little easier than it is, it’s still pretty simple though
