Squarebody Suburban Vortec 8.1 Swap - Hydroboost Upgrade

I upgraded to Hydroboost for better clearance on the coils.

I used cheap e bay electric gauges on my ‘73 c10 when i put a LS in it, i was able to make them fit in the stock bezel and got all custom gauges for under $150 or so…but yeah i was gonna do the torque app with a tablet as well but i couldnt figure out how to link the damn thing…..awesome build you have there ive owned 2 of them square body suburban 4x4’s one a 1500 and the other a 2500…both 350 small block trucks … personally i liked the 1500 better….but im sure had my 2500 had a 8.1 swapped in it my feelings would have been diffrent….for the record my eagle 230 eliminator (boat) has that same vortec 8.1 in it, and it is an 80mph boat all day, as long as i have my trims dialed in….i love it!!!

Heck yeah brother, my truck already hydro boost. Just got my hands on an 8.1 to trade out for the small block.

Do you know if the hydro boost you got was from a CUVC M1008 or M1009 i think they can be different, good stuff and thanks

So from what I gathered there is not much difference in the hydro boost unit its self but in the master cylinder ,it was much bigger on M1008 (Pickup) to tow heavy load then on the M1009 (K5) which was just for people leaving this for anyone needing info 👍

I did the same swap in my 90 k5. I never switched the brake lines when I installed the hydroboost. My front tires seem to do all the stopping (more than normal). Maybe I will try to swap the lines.

When you switched the lines did it make a difference? Im in the ending stages of my 77 c10 LS swap and my hydroboost is one of my last steps to complete. Would like to know.

Nope. Everything works great. The brakes are really good.
