Nice project car, it was the best car on the road back when it was new and was the longest coupe at 231 inches. I have a 1978 Mark V , all original and in beautiful condition, drive to car shows and always the only Mark V there. I’ll be watching your progress on your 79. Cheers from Ontario, Canada

I just did this on my 2013 Accord and I did remove the entire throttle body, you see people on KZbin spraying inside their engine that’s definitely not recommended also the relearn process is as simple as just disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes then leaving the car run for 10 to 20 minutes and the relearn process will be done. Don’t waste your money at the dealer

Here's a tip for everyone, since you have taken off the air filter box with the MAF sensor attached, get some MAF sensor cleaner and spray the sensor (not the outer part of the sensor where the wire clips on) and inner parts of the air duct.

My 98 xj was just diagnosed with #3 cylinder broken valve spring and bent valve. My Jeep mechanic is based in Clearwater so the new cylinder head came from Clearwater. I’d appreciate any input. Mechanic hasnt officially quoted me yet, just sent some pictures. What questions should I ask? How much is too much to pay for repair? At what cost should I cut my losses and look into selling? I paid about 1600 for my xj 2 years ago. Other than this issue and broken water pump that was replaced I haven’t had any issues. Ive replaced cat converter, spark plugs, Cps, o2 sensors, new belts, etc. plus had like $2000 worth of repairs/upgrade when I first got her. Sorry if some of that info is irrelevant..I’m a girl new to the world of xj. I wish I had a father who knew vehicles like you I would have loved to work on projects like you and your daughter do… knowledge about vehicle mechanics is such power…I wish I knew more

Why couldn't you use the Allison transmission just curious because I'm about to do the same swap on my square body suburban but I know the truck I'm pulling it all out of is a beast of a four-wheel drive. With that truck I have yet to get stuck or find anything I can't pull out figured what better combination than to put in my suburban that has 40" swappers!! Thought she would for sure be unstoppable.. is there a specific reason why it can't be used or is it just your personal application..thought I'd inquire before I get too deep into the project lol.

And just figured if I'm going with my 40 inch super swampers. So I'm curious of how the 4L80 holds up in comparison I don't mind doing the extra fab work if it's worth it in the end. But as with anybody else if it's not I don't want to do that extra work if it's unnecessary LOL but again thank you for the info I truly appreciate that Intel...

@PetesPlaceGarage
@PetesPlaceGarage Жыл бұрын
To get the best result you should always use the correct parts for the winch, but with enough ingenuity any modern winch solenoid pack could probably be modified to work. At the end of the day, it's just making sure that power gets applied to the motor correctly.

im doing the same swap. where did you hook up the fuel return on the 8.1?
@PetesPlaceGarage
@PetesPlaceGarage Жыл бұрын
I used the stock feed and return lines. I ran them through an Automotive return style fuel regulator. So feed in, regulated supply out, and return through the bottom return port. It works well, but the fuel rail has to be bled if it runs dry. I had the returnless style fuel rail. If you have a return style rail, just hook it it to the stock return line.
@PetesPlaceGarage
@PetesPlaceGarage Жыл бұрын
@@Petrella82 The feed and return lines on my suburban (it had TBI EFI) came up from the top of the trans tunnel on the passenger side. I cut them and added AN fittings. For a return style fuel rail, I would have just routed the feed and return lines to the correct points on the fuel rail.
