No matter what anyone says, Final Fantasy 8 was my all-time favorite in the series. I also think the music was the best out of all of them.

I love love love LOVE how they used the PS1's hardware to make the 3d backgrounds 'melt'. The vertices coming apart, revealing the void within. The buildings going all wobbly. Genius 1998 move.

Adel must have communicated with Ultimecia at some point. They were both interested in Ellone. When she had little girls kidnapped and taken to Esthar, they found Ellone and did experiments to read her brain waves. Whatever Odine did, created this machine in Ultimecia's time, which explains how she is able to send her consciousness back in time to a certain extent.

Favourite ost ever. This is just too epic and I absolutely love the mystic sorcery vibe of FF VIII. Really makes me feel like I'm fighting to save the world.

Well they pretty much are. 1st time squall pretty much attempts a suicide run after Irvine fails to assassinate edea. 2nd time edea is in galbadia helping with a war. 3rd time you need to ein to even get a chance to even get to ultimecia.

It still amazes me how this theme plays near the end of the game, like it was screaming, "This is who you have been dealing with this whole time!" It's fascinating how the plot can be one thing, but it gets deeper and the foreshadowing just builds up to that very point.

Sorceress Edea was actually designed for FF7, but ended up not fitting into 7's narrative, so she was recycled into FF8. The FF7 theme motif was meant to be homage to where her character came from, though I think this remains unconfirmed.

Adel, the Demon Bat, Edea, the Regal Peacock, Rinoa, the Divine Dove, Ultimica, the Beastly Raven, Only four made use of the great gift that made impact on time itself. As for the nameless inferiors, they were fruitless and tactless with powers which reflect upon their forms which took no wing but crawled and slithered through the obscurity of time itself.

I understand why but having the fight w Adel play Force Your Way instead of Premonition was such a combo breaker, we couldve had every Sorceress fight feature Premonition, but considering it wouleve been so close to the Sorceress Gauntlet i understand why

I really thought Ultimecia had possessed Adel at some point. I think she had possessed her when Adel dispatched Esthar Soldiers to find little girls. The reason why Adel looked the way she did was because the sorceress powers would alter their body if they held on too long. Ultimecia needed Ellone to go further back in time. Perhaps, had Laguna and Co. not intervened and rescued Ellone from Odine's lab, she would have had full access to her sooner, instead of that toy that becomes this machine that sends she consciousness back in time. Notice how calculated she was manipulating them into bring Rinoa all the way from Galbadia garden to Esthar, then to the Space Station. She already had the lunatic Pandora headed over to teats point, and Rinoa out in space to unleash Adel from her tomb again.

Also don't forget, in the original PS1 release of this, Ultimecia's appearance sound features a laugh. So, she wasn't prepared to take you seriously, at all.

Edea had this sense of invincibility about her at the end of Disc 1. Very reminiscent of the hopeless boss fight against Beatrix in FF9x

One of the most iconic songs from VIII. #4 on my list and instantly tells me "You are facing the main antagonist of the game. Are you ready?" Nobuo hit another home run with this song.

First 30 seconds is deciding which party member you want to die on purpose and who you want to pop aura for. Edit: I know ff8 is known to have some easy cheese but realistically all 3 titans that were ff7 - ff9 all had cheese. FF8 was my personal fave out of the great trio. All 3 were undeniably some of the greatest masterpieces in gaming history.

You missed out FF6, it is the greatest game in the series. I dare even to say that FF6 surpassed FF7, FF8 and FF9. FF9 comes second after FF6, followed by FF8 (and FF4) , FF5, and FF7.

@Cloudcolin I also love ff6. But I really got into ff with the Playstation saga. I actually had ff anthology for Playstation which is how I first played ff6. But that was after I played ff7 and ff8.
