I went to Xgames Los Angeles a couple months before the game was unleashed on the public and they had a huge booth for it. I stepped on the board, started flailing and my skater on screen was pulling off every insane trick. The guys at the booth were like, "Dude! Have you played this before? You're a pro!" They then handed me a red bull and a link to where I could download a photo they took of me. I chugged the Red Bull and refused to visit the site. I knew immediately how awful the game was and (regretfully) didn't tell the Robomodo devs at the booth.

9:53 Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the reason that people hated it was because that (at retail) the game was like $120/£120? And the fact it's one of the few games (Shred being the other) that use the skateboard control essentially making it a massive waste of money to most gamers?

Might have something to do with it, but its one of those cases where people should vote with their wallet (plus DLC was big at the time so paying more than the day one retail price was a given at this point). Never seen a game store not do returns either way, bet they had to return A LOT of these things!

Also, most reviews I’ve seen for this game are for the 360 version, the one you couldn’t even get to calibrate. Maybe the ps3 version works better due to the usb sensor, but the 360 version barely functions. “What is everyone’s problem with this again???” Idk maybe because on 360 the game barely even functions and they paid $120????

When the game came out I was about 14 years old, I have been skating for a couple years at that point and been playing tony hawk games since pro skater 2. I almost cried because of how bad it was, I could kickflip the board in real life but not in-game. The fact that I wasted so much money on it almost brought me to tears. I'm giving you a sub because i am impressed that you actually tried to play this piece of shit game.

I've never played a Tony Hawk game, didn't watch last year's Tony Hawktober stuff and have no reason to watch any of the videos you've released so far.... ...but I've been really enjoying them! It feels like a jump in quality compared to some of your other videos, and the creativity in your camera shots/general overview of the games has been thoroughly entertaining. I might even give a Tony Hawk game a go as they seem pretty similar to Jet Set Radio

Definitely give the classic Pro Skater 2 and 3 a go, then Underground. If you don't like them, you won't like anything else. Definitely, *DEFINITELY* give last years and this years Hawktober a go. This is the most important thing to me I upload to the channel each year so I love knowing people are watching and enjoying. You don't need to enjoy skateboarding or skateboard games to enjoyed Tony Hawktober! :)

You fucking maniac, getting people to ride a custom made skate from the video game :D And what the hell were you doing on that skateboard?! Are your knees ok? I know you have problems with them so seeing you do all the stuff had me worried about ya :D You even gave me a different look on the game, I saw a review of it a year or so ago and the reviewer (forgot his name) bashed the skate controller for being horrible. You, actually showing us it works was a pleasant surprise! Oh and one last thing I forgot to mention in my last comment on the first part of THT 2018, respect to your dad for lying on the ground and allowing someone to jump over him with a skateboard, he's just as badass as you :D

Man, I did not expect you to actually like this game, at all. I was expecting a dumpster fire, but no, and I'm pleasantly surprised. Was expecting bad things b/c I remember the brutalmoose/Space Hamster collab way back when.

It's a common theme it seems. That video was great but I was always disappointed it never made it past the opening levels and then I realized, EVERY video ever on this game never makes it past those first stages. They also half ass their efforts at the motion controls which does them no favors either. it's a shame that this lazy format is the respected norm, the game is still quite mediocre but it's entirely playable and enjoyable at times! :)

I played this game the last couple days and have even beaten the career on the hardcore mode. The game of skate is easy and even the "advanced tricks" like the double kickflip are very easy to perform. I totally agree with your conclusion though. Its quite fun, you feel cool performing the more difficult tricks and so on. The board really amazes me even 13 years later. But the game itself sucks bad. Its a real shame
