This is the replay value to the game. Back then, everyone just cared about how good the online mode was. And I still feel that way. I give it 7 out of 10, and a 8 out of 10 if they ever fix the online proper

He says no replay value I say hell yes it dose the CAP alone is hours of entertainment the challenges keep you playing to level up and unlock them all the Gap stuff is hours of fun performing all the Gaps on each level. The multiplayer local is hours of fun with a friend and the other multiplayer online is simple fun it’s not overly hard. Let’s also talk about the customization I don’t know why he’s complaining about it its great and the achievements or trophies are a little challenging but in a good way again keeps you playing.

Good news! Not sure how recent it was, but THPS 1+2 received an update for Solo tours in career mode, which locks progression to your skater of choice! The cool part is, that you can switch between crew tours and solo tours whenever you want

Here’s why the “separate mode” for the speed run is not redundant: because not everyone can immediately do a complete speed run of a given level in under 2 minutes. You’re only given 2 minutes in a career mode session, so they needed a separate section to allow you to take as long as you needed. I do agree with your point that IF you score your personal best for a speed run in the career mode, that should count towards the leaderboard, assuming no mods.

The originals would keep me coming back for weeks/months going through all the levels, goals, stat points, etc with each skater to get the next unlockable. The way it is now, I beat it with one skater, and occasionally I load up the game to attempt one of the harder challenges. Why can't there just be an option to reset the challenges in the main campaign if I want to, without deleting all my saved progress?

I'm completely okay with cheats being available from the start. For one thing, the chest codes were out there for people to enter in the classic games and, for another, some people might struggle to unlock all the stages without cheats. If they make the game more fun or more accessible for someone, I welcome their presence. Speaking for myself, I found these games very challenging when I was nine years old in 1999. Cheats allowed me to still have fun and experience the whole game back then even if I didn't fully grasp how some of the game mechanics worked.

I'm glad there's a remake that's even better than Robomodo's previous attempt. New skaters, new officially-licensed music and THUG's gameplay system is highly welcome, but the lack of THPS2X content like the 5 bonus levels and 3 & 4 player split screen modes are a deal breaker. At least 2 player split screen modes made the cut, but I feel this type of game is perfect for having three or four players at once. Also, the company logos can't be skipped. Literally, I am forced to watch the Activision, Vicarious Visions, Beenox and Unreal Engine logo animations every time I boot the game. Just doesn't feel right without the "Activision O2!" voice call.

The section where we can select THPS1 OR THPS2 gameplay. They need to patch it so that the physics actually change. I was so hoping when I selected THPS2, that the physics would be identical in speed, air and hang time. The flip speed and such. I thought it would be identical to THPS2. That would be such a rad option. Then they could make new rewards for beating all the THPS1 levels using the original physics. And beating the THPS2 levels with original physics. People would have been blown away with that option.

Disappointed about the lack of customisation for custom skaters (more silly items, doesn't have to go overboard, but at least crazier hats or hairstyles) the prepatched version lets you put a logo on the front of your tshirt, but then they changed it to go on the back. And while the CAP is good, the lack of changing theme is a shame, and no gaps is a dealbreaker for it. Challenges are good, but way too much emphasis on new decks (I already got my Element board early on so no desire to get more) rather than surprise apparel or even secret skaters no matter how lacklustre they could be. I'd like to screw around as Ollie the Magic Bum, or finally unlock Private Carerra. Without anything substancial, there's nothing really bringing me back to replaying after spending a week on it

I love and agree with this whole review. I hadn't played a THPS game since THPS4 (aside from a quick playthrough of american sk8land on the DS at one point), but I really really loved it, and then when I picked this game up, it instantly reminded me of what I loved about the series. I have about 100 hours in the game so far and I'm still grinding. There's just so much to do in this game if you're a masochist like me... Also, congrats on Gnomey Hawk's success. Tony Hawk's games mean a lot to me, not only because I played them in my childhood, but because of how great they were and the magic they created when you played them. Music, mechanics, skaters, levels, EVERYTHING was fantastic. The Pro Skater series will always be magical. Personally, I kept playing the THs that continued even with the rare Ride experiment which seemed like a good idea for non-skaters like me, but ... well, we know how it turned out. Still, I feel like TH hasn't lost magic yet and with all his transformations, there's always something that makes us want to control a Pro and feel like him during the game. It's so cozy. Over the years, I have tried to collect as many TH games as possible, but at the moment due to the world situation I am somewhat stranded on that matter, but next year I will continue. Seeing your Hawktober videos and your collection motivated me to continue expanding mine and wanting to be better at the game but it also made me happy to know that there is someone else who loves this franchise very much. At the moment I have not been able to play this remake due to the situation that I already mentioned, and that is why I comment #winTHPS but also, I take the opportunity to comment that I love this franchise and I love Hawktober, it is one of my favorite moments of the year and I celebrate it by watching your videos and playing the games you review (if I have them, of course). It's funny that as soon as another developer makes a Tony Hawk's game it's celebrated as a great game but nothing Robomodo made was good. Yet Activision kept using that studio after Never Soft despite its constant failings. Even if THPS 5 would have had more time in the oven it still would be an under cooked mess as is apparent by Robomodo's established vision of the game.

The most recent update fixed tour career mode so now you can do the “Crew Tour” which only 1 character can complete the goals for all character or do the “Solo Tour” where you get to play all the levels and all the goals again and again with each individual character

Useless personal trivia: I used to wear spike wristbands when THUG2 and THAW were the biggest ones, and I always got my character to wear those. I got bummed with the lack of accessories in THPS1+2, but nowadays I have tattoos in my arms and don't wear wristbands anymore. In my wrist I have a barbed wire wristband-like tattoo, and there's a tattoo just like it in THPS1+2's Create-A-Skater, so I never complained again about not having accessories.

Points for the chiptune OST in the background. You're totally right about the apparel customisation; I went looking in the shop for items that didn't have a brand or a pro's name attached to them and there's a very meagre handful. The online too; I don't see why it wouldn't work to have the (practically perfect) splitscreen modes available online while our mates are having to distance and isolate. Other than that... I feel they added the speed run mode in instead of making a leaderboard for career mode because some levels are pretty much impossible to collect all of the objectives with in the 2 minutes given. In speed run the timer goes up instead meaning you can take as long as you want. #winTHPS

there has been an update to fix the separate skater objective issue adding a universal mode (great for custom skaters) and a skater specific playthrough mode called solo tours. along with some bug fixes, tweaking multiplayer and cash for the better and more create a skater/skatepark objects added in the store (not in app purchases with real money). though they have not added custom character accessories or further customizable clothes, and added a system to track your high scores in career mode it does not add that to the leaderboard great video

I appreciate all the fair criticism Jak gave the game. The online mode was as simple as simple can get. Hopefully we get private/free skate lobbies soon. I personally would LOVE a “marker” feature similar to Skate. This way I can practice specific lines or gaps over and over without having to skate all the way back after each attempt. I’d also love Weekly/Daily challenges to keep me wanting to come back ! I’ve almost platinumed the game, so I don’t have much of an incentive expect for trying to get that grueling “Level 100” trophy. Either way, loved the game and so happy this game still provides hours on hours of absolute fun. #winTHPS

Yo, by the way: I hope all of you enjoyed Charlie Brown Jr's 'Confisco', one of the new additions to the soundtrack. Chorão, the lead singer and writer for the band, was a HUUUUUGE THPS fan, and a friend of Bob Burnquist. Dude had miniramps set in his concert's stages and he loved skating. He made a public park in his hometown of Santos - SP (Brazil) that was until recently a big tourist, skater and fan attraction. I read they're unfortunately demolishing it, though. He passed away, and I believe that nothing would have made him happier than to be featured in a THPS game, let alone this masterpiece of a remake. From a humble Brazilian, I hope that Chorão's legacy got through to you.

You mentioned hidden sick challenges, but there actually are some, even ignoring the special characters- a couple of secret icons, and hidden "sick" scores for every level (which are actually sick- most are well above 10 million) which give you some amazing looking holographic, animated boards. Granted, these challenges aren't particularly creative, but going for all of them will keep even very good players (myself included) busy for hours.

One of the few things that bugs me is that there is no option for a backwards cap in "create a skater".

This is my first ever Tony Hawk game I first got into the skateboarding video games when I decided to play skate on my Xbox one I fell in love with that game and I wanted to try out the king Tony Hawk, and just a few days after I wanted to try it out Tony Hawk became available or to play using PlayStation plus on my PS4 and I remember being so confused because the controls was nothing like skate, but I eventually fell in love, and even though I’m not good at it, I still think I am decent at the game

I do get your point about the career objectives, but I mostly ONLY play as Tony, as he’s my favorite skater, then I just play for fun after I complete with no mods. But I do get your point
