After hearing breakbeat for years, I knew jungle and then THIS would eventually happen. I read a review and drove 45 miles to pick it up from the only shop in the region to have it. I rushed home and put it on. I heard this and felt so good that the sound had finally been realized, and in a really funky way too!

Doubt it. IDM/Breakcore is too niche sounding for any artist to be remembered in 500 years, especially since music making is more and more accessible and market is too overflown with new artists, genres, sounds etc.

yet here we are two and a half decades later listening still, I think it will last because it's pioneering stuff where electronic music evolved off into unimaginable directions

@@NickSBailey two and a half decades is one generation and idm is already a VERY niche genre, most of the tracks doesn't even get 1M listens, while popular stuff gets billions, music production quantities raise non-linearly year after year. 500 years is 25 generations, 25 generations of new technology, new people, new views, new ideas, new art. Tom's love for the Guitar bass funkyness and Genius arrangements and the swiftness of the breaks, made him one of my top Artists. Also his tracks carry one of the underrated properties that one could have in music making , in my opinion , Jamming and Spontaneous.. Though an Electronic composition he keeps the Jamming that musicians are having when playing together abstract rhythms to form a track and he materializes that in guitar and jazz form. He taps at all these different elements funk jazz guitar bass electronic idm breaks jungle even breakcore in such a unique style that he is among few to stand out , have his own unique sounds.

To make a bassline that fits so perfectly, he's a genius. The genius of it is I recognize the drum machine over an "analog" bass if you know what I mean.

You are right, but he didn’t used a tracker back then till 2000, that is crazy. He was using a Boss DR-660 drum machine, ran it through an ibanez cp9 guitar compressor pedal and then resampled the whole thing back in his akai S950 sampler. ( check out the last future music issue, he’s explaining all the processing he made for this banger album)

@@cause_effect @XTAL_77 I think hear the 660 tin sounding snare on beep street. I had the 660 long ago and loved to step record with quantize OFF. (a method which Tom mentions in an interview) you could only get a few patterns off it that way. I do believe if there are a few samples of the 660 they maybe even fewer used in the way of hard normal daddy. I think he used the same machine to resample patterns to loops and sequence those as a sort of song mode to work around memory constraint. I know there was a real kit sampled at some point. Processed enough, it's harder to tell them apart. Everything was SEQUENCED with the 660. I kind of feel like this classic belongs on hard normal daddy, in spirit..
